This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Oversee design initiatives for Tidepool’s Automated Insulin Dosing (AID) System and Tidepool Loop.
• Create hardware/software workflows including initial pump/CGM setup, pump/CGM replacement, and addressing pump/CGM error states.
• Direct design efforts for Tidepool’s Data Management Platform, enhancing both patient and clinician experiences.
• Develop device integrations, patient management dashboards, data visualizations, device connection workflows, and associated experiences.
• Convert patient requirements into impactful designs while balancing usability, safety regulations, and technical factors.
• Collaborate with Clinical, Regulatory, and Quality teams to adhere to risk and quality standards.
• Articulate a data-driven design vision and rationale to stakeholders and team members.
• Work alongside product, engineering, and quality assurance teams to guide design decisions and advocate for users.
• Address product design challenges across both iOS and Android platforms.
• Assist with human factors activities, formative usability studies, and preparation for summative validation.
• Cultivate empathy and understanding for individuals with diabetes and healthcare providers, utilizing feedback to enhance products.
• Collaborate with product managers on feature discovery, enhancement, definition, strategy, and prioritization.
• Proactively navigate prioritization challenges to align design focus areas with business objectives.
• Assume responsibilities beyond conventional design roles, including product management.
• Acquire expertise in diabetes-related hardware and software technologies.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a product designer, interaction designer, or in a related visual/experience design role.
• A strong portfolio showcasing a design process that addresses challenges for mobile and responsive web platforms.
• Submission of a portfolio is required, including any necessary passwords.
• Experience in designing Software as a Medical Device (SaMD) for both Android and iOS platforms.
• Proven experience in creating software solutions that interface directly with physical hardware.
• Strong foundation in visual design principles, including layout, color, and typography.
• Capability to produce high-level strategic designs while managing detailed design tasks.
• Ability to work autonomously from concept to completion while actively seeking feedback.
• Familiarity with using Jira for design reviews and providing design feedback to engineers.
• Experience utilizing AI prototyping tools in a human-in-the-loop approach.
• Background in collaborating with product teams within highly technical fields involving complex data and hardware constraints.
• Empathy for chronic conditions and a commitment to understanding the diabetes experience.
