This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.
• Define the core product experience for Restate.
• Create the primary Restate user interface, collaborating with engineers from brainstorming to deployment.
• Ensure that execution timelines, retries, queues, state, and failures are easily understandable for engineers.
• Uphold a consistent mental framework across the UI, SDKs, and documentation.
• Effectively visually represent durable execution while maintaining the integrity of the product’s design quality.
• Develop interactive and animated illustrations that showcase Restate's architecture and unique features.
• Utilize motion to convey the system's state, timing, and dynamic aspects.
• Generate content aimed at developers, including blog graphics, social media visuals, and related materials.
• Ensure the external visual language aligns seamlessly with the internal visual language of the product.
• Create scalable design systems for architecture diagrams, code visualizations, and interactive components.
• Work closely with design and engineering teams, refining concepts from initial sketches to final output.
• Collaborate directly with engineers and the broader founding team.
• Several years of experience designing tools, dashboards, or platforms that involve complex software.
• A portfolio showcasing intricate product designs and visual work that simplifies technical concepts.
• Proficient in information design, covering hierarchy, density, progressive disclosure, and prioritization.
• Capable of visual storytelling for complex technical topics.
• Expertise in brand and campaign design, including layout, typography, illustration, and launch visuals.
• Skills in motion design to effectively convey state, timing, and dynamism.
• Experience with scalable design systems, reusable components, and design patterns.
• Strong visual design instincts and the ability to autonomously set design direction.
• Technical curiosity, with the ability to grasp the product well enough to inform design decisions.
• Writing skills for creating labels, empty states, error messages, and headlines.
• Familiarity with AI and the ability to leverage it to enhance impact and streamline processes.
• Comfort in working with a high degree of autonomy and engaging directly with the founding team.
• Nice-to-have: previous experience with developer tools, infrastructure, or AI products.
• Nice-to-have: experience in building or contributing to a production design system.
• Nice-to-have: ability to prototype in code or possess sufficient HTML and CSS knowledge to convey ideas accurately.
• Must have authorization to work in the country of residence without the need for visa sponsorship, now and in the future.
