This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Serve as an integral member of the product team by participating in standups, design discussions, product marketing conversations, and product evaluations.
• Monitor and assess competitors and related products to pinpoint feature deficiencies, emerging trends, and unmet user needs.
• Keep a weekly competitive tracker that documents feature releases, launches, and the positioning of competitors.
• Recruit and conduct interviews with users aged 16 to 25 regarding music discovery and sharing experiences.
• Assist in usability and concept testing for new features and prototypes.
• Gather qualitative and quantitative feedback and translate it into actionable insights.
• Analyze audience reactions to curation and algorithmic suggestions.
• Research visual and interaction trends within music, social media, and related applications.
• Track relevant themes on Reddit, Discord, TikTok comments, and app store reviews.
• Aid user feedback initiatives by drafting survey questions, monitoring feedback and bug reports, and documenting recurring themes.
• Systematize interview notes, clips, and findings in the research repository.
• Compile findings into concise internal documents and present a final report and presentation.
• Take ownership of a self-directed product research project and share recommendations with the team.
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree or higher at an accredited institution.
• Completed at least the Sophomore year or beyond.
• Enrolled in at least one course during the semester/quarter preceding internship participation.
• Planning to return to school for at least one semester following the internship.
• Maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Demonstrated genuine interest in consumer products, music discovery, sharing, and discussion.
• Possess strong written communication abilities.
• Comfortable conducting interviews and asking follow-up questions.
• Highly organized and self-motivated, capable of managing multiple research projects with minimal supervision in a remote setting.
• Familiarity with survey results and basic data sets.
• Practical experience with TikTok, Instagram, Discord, Reddit, and major streaming services.
• Maintain discretion with confidential product, partner, and roadmap information.
• Successfully complete a post-offer background check and drug screening.
• Preferred degree fields include business, marketing, design, human-computer interaction, communications, music business, or related disciplines.
• Prior internships, coursework, or project experience in user research, product management, marketing, or design is advantageous.
• Practical experience with interviews, surveys, or usability testing is a plus.
• Experience in building an audience, creating social content, or moderating an online community is a bonus.
• Familiarity with Figma, Notion, and survey or analytics platforms is a plus.
• Proficiency with AI tools is an asset.
• Personal involvement in music as a musician, DJ, playlist curator, writer, or community participant is a bonus.
