Producer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Assist in newsgathering, storytelling, and live production across all platforms.

• Collaborate with correspondents and show teams to create, report, and present visually engaging stories.

• Propose, field produce, write, and verify daily news, longform articles, and cross-platform content.

• Execute original reporting, extensive research, and conduct source interviews.

• Arrange guest bookings, conduct pre-interviews, and prepare talking points.

• Be prepared to travel on short notice and remain on location as long as coverage demands.

• Work together with control rooms, senior producers, and editorial teams to develop rundowns, draft introductions, and produce live and recorded segments.

• Supervise field operations, encompassing live shots, remote anchor setups, and breaking news coverage.

• Monitor and manage the correspondent’s schedule.

• Collaborate with editors on video packages, graphics, and audio.

• Partner with Standards & Legal to ensure adherence to editorial and corporate regulations.

• Maintain communication among correspondents, senior leadership, the assignment desk, and production teams.

• Share ideas for news-of-the-day, lifestyle, celebrity, and human-interest content.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

• At least 5 years of experience in network news, cable, or talk show production, including both live and taped segments.

• Strong skills in journalistic writing, research, and editorial judgment.

• Familiarity with U.S. politics, current events, pop culture, and lifestyle trends.

• Experience with DSLR or iPhone filming.

• Proficient in editing with Avid and/or Adobe Premiere.

• Ability to navigate newsroom tools and technology, including Slack, NCX, and Latakoo.

• Capacity to thrive in fast-paced environments under tight deadlines.

• Willingness to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime with little notice.

• Frequent domestic and international travel capability.

• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.

• Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

• Strong storytelling skills and creativity in presenting original concepts.

• Experience with live programming.

• Knowledge of NBC News Policies, Guidelines, and Practices.
