This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.
• Analyze product and technology roadmaps spanning 3 to 5 years to determine future requirements for components, materials, manufacturing, and capabilities.
• Identify unmet needs, technological gaps, risks, and supply constraints prior to the initiation of development programs.
• Facilitate collaboration among R&D, Engineering, Product Management, and Procurement teams.
• Conduct global market intelligence and perform technology scouting.
• Identify emerging suppliers, innovative technologies, materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Develop and sustain a pipeline of creative suppliers.
• Monitor trends in technology, patents, startup ecosystems, industry conferences, and competitive movements.
• Establish strategic relationships with suppliers and promote co-development opportunities.
• Organize workshops for supplier innovation and conduct technology reviews.
• Integrate external innovations into product development initiatives.
• Assess supplier technology roadmaps for alignment with business goals.
• Support various phases of new product development, including concept, feasibility, and execution.
• Influence design choices based on supplier capabilities, cost factors, manufacturability, and technological readiness.
• Lead initiatives for early supplier involvement.
• Evaluate sourcing risks associated with future technologies and create mitigation strategies.
• Act as the primary procurement representative within advanced engineering and R&D teams.
• Present insights and recommendations to engineering, industrial design, product management leadership, and executive management.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
• 5 to 7 years of experience in Engineering, Product Development, Supplier Development, Advanced Sourcing, Procurement, or Technology Commercialization.
• Proven track record of integrating new technologies or strategic suppliers into product programs.
• MBA is preferred.
• Proficient in analyzing 3- to 5-year product and technology roadmaps.
• Experience in global market intelligence and technology scouting.
• Ability to identify new suppliers, technologies, materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Capability to develop and maintain a pipeline of innovative suppliers.
• Familiarity with technology trends, patents, startup ecosystems, industry conferences, and competitive developments.
• Competence in establishing strategic supplier relationships and fostering co-development opportunities.
• Ability to evaluate supplier technology roadmaps effectively.
• Experience in supporting the concept, feasibility, and development phases of new products.
• Skills in assessing sourcing risks and developing mitigation plans.
• Proficient in presenting findings and recommendations to leadership and executive management.
• Capable of working independently as an individual contributor without management responsibilities.
