Process Safety Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Provide strategic guidance for process safety management programs throughout European operations.

• Create and execute regional process safety strategies that align with corporate standards and business goals.

• Establish governance systems, expectations, and performance metrics for process safety.

• Ensure adherence to European, national, and local regulations concerning process safety and hazardous materials.

• Offer technical expertise regarding Seveso III and major accident prevention regulations.

• Facilitate Process Hazard Analyses utilizing methodologies such as HAZOP, What-If, FMEA, LOPA, and others.

• Formulate risk reduction recommendations and oversee the implementation of corrective actions.

• Lead and manage Management of Change processes.

• Provide oversight for process safety in capital projects, facility expansions, equipment upgrades, and new process introductions.

• Engage in design reviews, hazard evaluations, pre-startup safety reviews, and commissioning activities.

• Direct investigations into significant process safety incidents, near misses, fires, explosions, chemical releases, and high-potential events.

• Supervise risk programs related to fire, explosion, combustible dust, flammable liquids, reactive chemicals, compressed gases, and hazardous materials.

• Develop and implement process safety audit programs for facilities across Europe.

• Support mechanical integrity initiatives for essential process equipment.

• Create and conduct process safety training sessions while coaching facility teams.

• Assist in emergency response planning, drills, crisis management, and business continuity initiatives.

• Travel approximately 35% of the time to facilitate audits, risk assessments, investigations, project reviews, exercises, and facility engagement.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Process Engineering, Occupational Safety, or a related technical field.

• A minimum of 8–10 years of progressive experience in process safety, EHS, engineering, manufacturing, chemical processing, pharmaceuticals, specialty materials, energy, or industrial operations.

• Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing, and managing Process Safety Management programs.

• Experience in facilitating Process Hazard Analyses and conducting risk assessments.

• Proven track record in leading incident investigations and Management of Change programs.

• Successful collaboration with cross-functional operational and engineering teams across multiple locations.

• Extensive knowledge of process safety principles, risk management systems, and programs aimed at major accident prevention.

• Strong understanding of the Seveso III Directive and European process safety regulations.

• Familiarity with OSHA PSM, EPA RMP, CCPS Risk-Based Process Safety principles, NFPA standards, and related industry frameworks.

• Expertise in methodologies such as HAZOP, LOPA, FMEA, Bow-Tie Analysis, and What-If reviews.

• Comprehensive knowledge of Management of Change, Mechanical Integrity, Incident Investigation, and Emergency Response systems.

• Ability to assess hazards related to fire, explosions, chemical releases, and process disturbances.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and EHS management systems.

• Willingness to travel internationally and maintain adaptability across various countries and time zones.

• Must be capable of wearing required personal protective equipment.

• Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds.

• Preferred certifications include CCPSC, CSP, CEng or equivalent, NEBOSH Diploma, Functional Safety or Risk Management certification, OSHA 30-Hour General Industry Certification, and Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt.
