Process Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Deliver technical expertise in chemical engineering specifically for Resin and Formaldehyde production processes.

• Propose solutions for complex challenges within Resin processes.

• Offer senior technical guidance on the development of new chemical processes within project teams.

• Evaluate proposed chemical processes and recipe enhancements for process efficiency, safety, and environmental conformity.

• Conduct relief system modeling.

• Diagnose existing chemical processes that fail to meet design specifications.

• Oversee the commissioning and initiation of new chemical operations.

• Lead productivity initiatives aimed at enhancing capacity and efficiency in plant operations.

• Collaborate with teams in Innovation, Commercial, Operations, and Supply Chain.

• Provide consultative input on chemical process design with an emphasis on safety and operational efficiency.

• Advise project teams regarding design or scope modifications and their implications on processes and benefits.

• Partner with contracted engineering firms on innovative process designs.

• Validate calculations for compliance with codes, specifications, design criteria, and RAGAGEP standards.

• Create business cases for new product and process innovations and present them to Leadership.

• Formulate best practices and design standards to enhance process reliability and efficiency.

• Participate in PHA and HAZOP evaluations from initial project phases through to commissioning.

• Offer technical guidance on deviations from anticipated production outcomes.

• Organize and spearhead commissioning activities, including the closure of PSSR action items and MOC processes.

• Facilitate communication with operations while providing education and training.

• Represent the team to Leadership on challenging technical matters with actionable recommendations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of relevant experience in chemical processes.

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Process Engineering.

• Experience working on the plant floor within a chemical operating company.

• Familiarity with batch manufacturing processes.

• Extensive experience in solid material handling and equipment design.

• Project management experience, particularly in Front End Loading (FEL) initiatives.

• Knowledge of process safety, environmental, and Industrial Hygiene regulations related to chemical production.

• Ability to navigate a matrix organization and work remotely.

• Proficient in collaborating with third-party engineering firms during Front End Engineering tasks.

• Understanding of Fault Trees, FMEA, QRA, and LOPA methodologies.

• Knowledge of Chemical Reaction Relief system modeling.

• Advanced skills in Excel and intermediate skills in PowerPoint.

• Proficient computer skills.

• Ability to gather and analyze data effectively.

• Familiarity with Stage Gate project processes and front-end development.

• Understanding of Gantt Charts and Microsoft Project.

• Familiarity with enterprise system software such as SAP.

• Must be at least 18 years of age.

• Authorization for the Company to perform drug testing, background investigations, and periodic background checks as necessary.

• Experience with Mini-Tab is preferred but not mandatory.
