This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio, +2 more states.
• Oversee all facets of Blow Molding tooling, process development, validation, and qualification tasks throughout Amcor manufacturing operations.
• Direct tooling projects from initial concept and quotations to full implementation.
• Engage in business development inquiries and the quotation process for tooling and machine bottles.
• Specify, document, and manage the scope and requirements of ISBM tooling projects.
• Collaborate with tooling vendors on mold design and construction.
• Secure tooling quotations, assess vendor proposals, prepare bills of material, and oversee tooling procurement.
• Examine and authorize tooling designs, assembly drawings, and CAD models.
• Monitor vendor performance, project schedules, tooling quality, and delivery timelines.
• Guide mold sampling, process qualification, and validation procedures.
• Enhance molding processes and set validated baseline methods.
• Assist with machine startups and resolve issues related to processes, machines, tooling, quality, and productivity.
• Conduct process capability studies, statistical analyses, Design of Experiments, and validation tests.
• Suggest tooling alterations and process enhancements based on engineering analyses and production data.
• Create and disseminate engineering standards, specifications, best practices, and technical documentation.
• Support initiatives in R&D, Innovation, Commercial, Operations, and Quality.
• Educate plant personnel on machine processing, tooling systems, troubleshooting, and operational best practices.
• Mentor process technicians, engineers, quality staff, and operations teams.
• Report directly to the Tooling Director.
• A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Plastics Engineering, or a related technical field is required.
• A combination of education and relevant industry experience may be acceptable.
• A minimum of 5 to 8 years of experience in plastics packaging manufacturing, process engineering, tooling engineering, or a similar field is necessary.
• At least 2 years of project management experience is preferred.
• Required experience includes working with Injection Stretch Blow Molding (ISBM) tooling and vendors.
• Experience in mold qualification, validation, process optimization, and troubleshooting is essential.
• Background in the PET packaging industry is strongly preferred.
• Preferred experience includes conducting process capability studies, DOE, and statistical analyses.
• Strongly preferred experience in supporting production startups and manufacturing operations.
• Knowledge of Blow Molding machinery, processes, tooling, container handling equipment, and downstream systems is important.
• Understanding of mold design, hot runner systems, and tooling functionality is required.
• Proficiency with CAD software and engineering drawings is necessary.
• Familiarity with SAP, Windchill, Salesforce, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Excel is beneficial.
• Knowledge of SPC, validation methodologies, and quality systems is advantageous.
• Preferred working knowledge of hydraulic systems, process controls, machine functionalities, and automation systems.
