Privacy Program Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop the privacy automation framework utilizing scripts, scheduled tasks, API connections, and LLM-based agents.

• Take ownership of the data subject rights initiative and automate processes for intake, identity verification, data-store fan-out, fulfillment tracking, and audit trails.

• Create and maintain a data inventory and ROPA derived from the environment using cloud APIs, warehouse metadata, IaC, and service catalogs.

• Evaluate designs and pull requests related to data management and provide guidance on de-identification, pseudonymization, tokenization, encryption, and access scoping.

• Convert retention requirements into data-store regulations and collaborate with engineering to enforce these across pipelines and backups.

• Establish mechanisms for deletion verification.

• Assist with consent management and preference processing.

• Trace customer data throughout AI training, fine-tuning, inference, and logging phases.

• Validate claims of zero-retention and isolation, and implement checks to uphold them.

• Manage privacy workstreams, tools, agent design, and offer technical privacy-by-design guidance.

⛳️ Requirements

• 4–7 years of experience in privacy, GRC, IT audit, information security, or a closely related discipline, with substantial hands-on privacy involvement.

• Proficient understanding of GDPR and CCPA/CPRA.

• Knowledge of ISO 27701, ISO 27001, ISO 42001, SOC 2, and NIST standards.

• Practical experience with data subject requests, ROPA or data inventory management, privacy impact assessments, or retention enforcement.

• Experience in automating privacy processes using AI tools, scripts, workflow builders, or privacy/GRC platform automation.

• Proficient in SQL and at least one scripting language.

• Hands-on experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure, encompassing IAM, access scoping, logging, data stores, and retention practices.

• Excellent written communication skills.

• Familiarity with LLM APIs or agent frameworks, de-identification or synthetic data methods, data lineage or catalog tools, AI/ML privacy, or startup/SaaS settings is a plus.
