
Prior Authorization, Centralized Scheduler

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kansas.
• Schedule patients and manage centralized appointments.
• Obtain and verify prior authorizations.
• Create service estimates.
• Conduct financial discussions with patients and/or guardians.
• Assist patients, guardians, and provider offices with courtesy and professionalism.
• Ensure the accuracy and integrity of patient information and test orders.
• Coordinate with physicians, nurses, staff, patients, and medical departments.
• Confirm appointments, prior authorizations, and medical orders.
• Validate CPT codes for prior authorization against ordered tests and resolve any discrepancies.
• Verify medical necessity and gather procedure-related diagnoses.
• Use a computerized encoding system to assign diagnosis codes.
• Input codes into medical necessity software to secure approval.
• Contact providers to confirm or obtain additional diagnoses.
• Create and process Advanced Beneficiary Notices when necessary.
• Verify insurance benefits, copays, deductibles, and coinsurance obligations.
• Inform patients or departments of their financial responsibilities.
• Direct patients to Financial Counselors for arranging payments or seeking financial assistance.
• Troubleshoot computer system issues and perform table maintenance if designated as a Super User.
• Maintain confidentiality and safeguard sensitive data.
• Deliver outstanding customer service.
• Execute other duties within the Patient Financial Services department as requested.
• High school education is required.
• Minimum experience in a healthcare office environment and/or customer service is necessary.
• Certification as a Medical Assistant or similar degree with relevant experience.
• Capability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to understand and adhere to safe work practices.
• Follow Amberwell procedures and established policies.
• Knowledge of cultural diversity is essential.
• Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, customers, physicians, nurses, staff, and medical departments.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive data.
• Preferred: 2+ years of relevant experience.
• Preferred: Certification as a Medical Assistant.
