This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Develop and document a comprehensive content strategy for the USSF platform, encompassing voice, tone, structure, and delivery standards.
• Collaborate with developers and CMS administrators to design scalable, reusable content frameworks utilizing Directus.
• Set editorial standards, style guidelines, and publishing processes.
• Ensure uniformity and adherence to guidelines among distributed authors.
• Train, assist, and onboard USSF staff involved in content creation.
• Produce playbooks, templates, and onboarding resources.
• Work alongside UX designers to draft and evaluate interface copy, microcopy, and task-oriented content.
• Perform content audits, user research, and stakeholder interviews.
• Leverage analytics to enhance engagement and effectiveness.
• Represent content in product planning, sprint iterations, and stakeholder assessments.
• Advocate for user-centered messaging and principles of plain language.
• Collaborate with design, product, engineering, and communications teams.
• Guide a diverse group of content contributors.
• Over 6 years of experience in content strategy, UX writing, or content design for digital platforms.
• Strong experience with CMS tools, ideally headless platforms like Directus, Contentful, or Strapi.
• Proven track record in creating and upholding editorial standards, content models, and governance frameworks.
• Outstanding writing and editing abilities with a focus on clarity, tone, and accessibility.
• Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively with cross-functional product teams in Agile settings.
• Knowledge of Section 508 accessibility standards and user-centered content methodologies.
• Excellent facilitation, communication, and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
• Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Systems, or Computer Science from an ABET accredited or CAE designated institution.
• Preferred: Experience collaborating with public affairs and legal teams within the Department of Defense (DoD).
• Preferred: Background in supporting federal or DoD digital services or working within a regulated or secure environment.
• Preferred: Understanding of structured content design and content API delivery.
• Preferred: Familiarity with plain language, information architecture, and UX principles.
• Preferred: Exposure to security clearance procedures or previous work with classified content workflows.
• Preferred: Experience engaging with or working in the USSF.
