Principal Systems Lead – Data Center Infrastructure

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the comprehensive system architecture across cooling and power product platforms.

• Define and uphold modular design strategies that promote reuse, scalability, maintainability, and change isolation.

• Design system and model structures that facilitate future growth, option expansion, regional requirements, and evolving customer expectations.

• Create architectural frameworks aimed at minimizing lifecycle complexity and design fluctuations.

• Oversee product variant strategies for capacities, ratings, redundancy schemes, and adherence to regional compliance standards.

• Ensure that variants employ structured configuration logic instead of duplication, exceptions, or manual workarounds.

• Develop and sustain CAD architecture standards, model structures, interface rules, templates, skeletons, references, and reusable design frameworks.

• Align CAD architecture with PLM structures, configuration management, and release requirements.

• Act as the primary technical authority during system-level and cross-functional design reviews.

• Address conflicting requirements and complex integration challenges.

• Propel technical decision-making, issue resolution, and the closure of action items.

• Collaborate with ME CAD, EE CAD, controls, manufacturing, quality, service, and PLM/configuration teams.

• Coordinate technical activities, priorities, and dependencies across functions.

• Identify architectural risks, technical obstacles, and organizational gaps.

• Partner with stakeholders throughout design, procurement, manufacturing, testing, deployment, and service.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related professional field.

• Over 10 years of experience in designing and architecting complex electromechanical systems.

• Proven track record of owning system architecture within multi-variant product environments.

• In-depth knowledge of modular design, product platforms, configuration logic, and lifecycle scalability.

• Strong grasp of CAD architectures, configuration management, and PLM-driven product development.

• Demonstrated experience in leading cross-functional technical initiatives involving various engineering disciplines.

• Established ability to prioritize tasks, manage dependencies, drive execution, and achieve closure without direct supervisory oversight.

• Capability to operate independently as a senior technical authority across organizational boundaries.

• Preferred: experience in architecture ownership for CDUs, chillers, HVAC systems, liquid cooling infrastructure, or power distribution equipment.

• Preferred: experience supporting product families with diverse capacities, redundancy schemes, regional specifications, and customer-specific variants.

• Preferred: extensive knowledge of CAD, PLM, configuration management, and release processes.

• Preferred: experience in driving technical execution within matrixed engineering organizations.

• Preferred: experience in alleviating organizational burdens and enhancing engineering velocity through improved architecture and design practices.

• Preferred: experience in supporting both NPI and sustaining engineering environments.
