Principal Solutions Architect – Financial Services

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Act as a trusted advisor, steering customers' data engineering and architectural strategies, particularly focusing on Databricks solutions.

• Design, construct, and implement comprehensive data solutions that support AI, ML, and business intelligence projects.

• Provide insightful thought leadership on emerging data trends.

• Collaborate with sales teams to showcase technical solutions to potential clients.

• Oversee multiple customer accounts while tracking progress and outcomes.

• Architect solutions that incorporate best practices for governance, security, and data quality.

• Assess data sources and suggest strategies for inclusion to enhance analytics.

• Mentor internal teams, guide project teams, and educate end users about data products and analytic environments.

• Analyze systems, diagnose issues related to data and systems, and implement appropriate resolutions.

• Validate data movement, transformation code, and data components for precision and dependability.

• Allocate time equally between hands-on technical execution and presales activities.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience as a hands-on Solutions Architect and/or Senior Data Engineer.

• Recent involvement in implementing data solutions using Databricks.

• Proficiency in Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, Databricks, pandas, and scikit-learn.

• Extensive knowledge of data modeling, ETL, data integration, and contemporary engineering techniques.

• Competence in conducting complex architecture discovery sessions and designing solutions, along with creating implementation blueprints.

• Expertise in Java, Python, and/or Scala.

• Experience with AWS, Azure, and/or GCP.

• Capable of writing, debugging, and optimizing SQL queries.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with client-facing experience.

• Ability to create and deliver detailed presentations for clients and stakeholders.

• Experience in producing comprehensive solution documentation, including POCs, roadmaps, sequence diagrams, class hierarchies, and logical system views.

• Proficient in bringing technical solutions into production with a focus on performance, security, scalability, and robust data integration.

• Experience in managing, mentoring, and developing a team of engineers.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.

• Preference for candidates residing in the Pacific Time zone or on the West Coast.

• Preferred: Familiarity with distributed storage systems such as S3, ADLS, HDFS, GCS, Kudu, Elasticsearch/Solr, Cassandra, or other NoSQL systems.

• Preferred: Experience with Spark, Kafka, StreamSets, Matillion, Fivetran, NiFi, AWS Data Migration Services, Azure Data Factory, and IICS.

• Preferred: Comprehensive experience in the software development life cycle (SDLC).

• Preferred: Automated data transformation and curation skills using dbt, Spark, Spark Streaming, and automated pipelines.

• Preferred: Workflow management and orchestration experience using Airflow, AWS Managed Airflow, Luigi, and NiFi.

• Preferred: Background in Financial Services, specifically in banking.

• Preferred: Understanding of banking IT compliance requirements and standards.

• Preferred: At least two relevant certifications such as Associate Developer for Apache Spark, Data Engineer Associate, Professional Data Engineer, Machine Learning Associate, or Professional ML Engineer.
