This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Iowa.
• Act as a software project engineer throughout the pursuit, bidding, planning, execution, and sustainment phases.
• Deliver project management and provide technical guidance.
• Supervise engineers from entry-level to seasoned professionals.
• Convey updates on technical progress, risks, opportunities, financial metrics, and project management details.
• Maintain alignment with Collins Aerospace technical engineering protocols.
• Assist in defining development strategies.
• Ensure adherence to DO-178 and other certification standards.
• Lead certification initiatives through audits.
• Promote software team best practices and oversee software project execution.
• Offer mentorship and coaching to engineers evolving as leads, CAMs, or PEs.
• Design, develop, and validate avionics display software for both bare-metal and RTOS platforms.
• Contribute to the safety and efficiency of commercial and military avionics systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related discipline.
• Capability to lead software development teams and collaborate effectively with others.
• Experience in managing technical projects, including scheduling, earned value management, and risk oversight.
• Ability to implement changes and best practices among peers.
• Proven leadership achievements.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Critical thinking skills with an understanding of broader impacts beyond immediate issues.
• U.S. citizenship is required; only U.S. citizens are permitted to access information under this program/contract.
• Preferred: Familiarity with avionics regulatory and certification processes, including TSO, MIL-STD, DO-160, DO-254, DO-178B/C, DO-297, and APR4754A.
• Preferred: Experience in embedded C++ or platform-level software development.
• Preferred: Experience with RTOS.
• Preferred: Proficiency with DOORS, PREP, JIRA, and Confluence.
