Principal Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Create and implement a robust framework for processing and managing real-time data at an internet-scale.

• Develop a comprehensive platform for managing software and infrastructure that integrates both cloud-based and on-premises systems.

• Build and sustain observability tools that encompass logging, metrics, and alerting across both cloud and on-prem environments.

• Establish technical standards and best practices as a key leader within the engineering team.

• Resolve intricate and conflicting distributed architectures that have evolved across multiple companies over several decades.

• Offer technical guidance and leadership within DomainTools at a broad level.

⛳️ Requirements

• Excellent organizational and interpersonal abilities.

• Over 7 years of experience in a mix of software, hardware, systems engineering, or leadership roles within technical operations.

• Proven experience in designing, constructing, and managing large-scale orchestration systems.

• Familiarity with significant internet protocols and standards, including DNS, Whois, RDAP, and more.

• A strong interest and experience in the internet security domain.

• Skilled at collaborating across different organizational boundaries to address challenges.

• Deep understanding of architectural trade-offs across various scales.

• Extensive knowledge of contemporary practices in software engineering, systems engineering, operations, and infrastructure management.

• Capability to articulate and advocate for designs based on foundational architectural principles.

• Proficiency in adapting designs to address the complexities of a multifaceted business environment.

• A strong motivation to tackle seemingly insurmountable technological and organizational challenges.
