Principal – Site Investigation & Remediation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Achieve an annual net revenue surpassing $750,000 by engaging in client development, project pursuits, and strategic business initiatives.

• Cultivate and sustain client relationships across California while identifying new business opportunities.

• Broaden the firm's clientele through networking, marketing, relationship building, and active participation in the industry.

• Lead the development of proposals, conduct client interviews, manage strategic pursuits, and negotiate contracts.

• Oversee environmental site investigations and remediation projects until regulatory closure is achieved.

• Offer senior-level technical expertise in designing investigations, evaluating remedial alternatives, implementing corrective actions, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

• Provide technical leadership on projects related to groundwater, soil, soil vapor, and sediment contamination.

• Mentor, develop, and support the technical staff throughout the organization.

• Supervise technical reports, work plans, remedial designs, risk assessments, and regulatory submissions.

• Represent the firm at industry organizations, conferences, professional associations, and strategic forums.

• Collaborate with practice leaders to discover cross-disciplinary opportunities and enhance the consulting framework.

• Manage projects ranging from approximately $100,000 to $25 million.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 20 years of progressively responsible experience in environmental consulting, site investigation, and remediation.

• A Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or a related field is required.

• Professional Engineer (PE), Professional Geologist (PG), or other relevant certifications are preferred but not mandatory.

• Extensive experience in environmental investigation and remediation, specifically involving groundwater, soil, soil vapor, sediment contamination, petroleum hydrocarbons, chlorinated solvents, and metals.

• Experience with emerging contaminants is preferred.

• Familiarity with utility, industrial, manufacturing, transportation, and/or brownfield redevelopment sites is advantageous.

• Proven success in managing complex environmental remediation projects and multidisciplinary teams.

• Strong understanding of federal, state, and local environmental regulations and remediation programs.

• Knowledge of CERCLA, RCRA, UST, and state-led cleanup programs is preferred.

• Experience in the design and/or oversight of remedial systems, excavation, groundwater treatment, vapor mitigation, and site restoration is preferred.

• Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain senior-level client relationships and contribute to business development and revenue growth.

• Strong skills in technical writing, communication, leadership, and organization.

• Proven experience in project budgeting, scheduling, contract management, and financial performance oversight.

• An entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to recognize opportunities, develop markets, and support the long-term growth of a consulting practice.

• Candidates must reside in Northern California or the Bay Area.

• Periodic travel throughout California is required.
