This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado, +1 more state.
• Offer senior technical guidance on hydrogeology, mine water, and groundwater-related initiatives.
• Oversee and evaluate conceptual hydrogeologic models, field studies, aquifer testing, groundwater monitoring, dewatering, seepage analysis, water balance, closure planning, permitting assistance, and impact assessments.
• Direct or critically assess numerical and analytical groundwater modeling, focusing on assumptions, uncertainties, limitations, and their implications for client decisions.
• Convert complex hydrogeologic data into actionable recommendations for mine planning, environmental management, water supply, permitting, operations, and risk mitigation.
• Act as a trusted advisor and primary client liaison.
• Build client relationships, identify opportunities, and lead proposals, scopes, budgets, schedules, and project strategies.
• Mentor technical staff and ensure high-quality project delivery through evaluation, coaching, and sharing knowledge.
• Travel for client meetings, site assessments, conferences, business development, and internal collaboration.
• Contribute to the expansion of ITASCA North America’s hydrogeology practice and integrate hydrogeology, geomechanics, engineering geology, and numerical modeling capabilities.
• Advanced degree in hydrogeology, geochemistry, environmental engineering, or a similar discipline.
• Around 20+ years of pertinent professional experience.
• Demonstrated technical proficiency and sound professional judgment in hydrogeology.
• Professional registration from a recognized organization, or the capability to obtain registration if necessary.
• Experience in leading, managing, directing, and reviewing intricate technical projects.
• Strong background with conceptual hydrogeologic models, field investigations, hydraulic testing, and hydrogeologic data analysis.
• Excellent client-facing communication abilities.
• Experience in mentoring staff and contributing to business development efforts.
• Background in the mining sector, particularly regarding mine water management, pit dewatering, depressurization, seepage, closure, water balance, permitting, and operational hydrogeology.
• Established relationships with clients in mining, infrastructure, energy, water resources, or environmental sectors.
• Experience in developing and securing consulting projects.
• Familiarity with MODFLOW, FEFLOW, MINEDW, GIS, 3-D visualization, or data analysis.
• Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
• Recognition within the hydrogeology, mining, groundwater, or environmental consulting communities.
• Must be based in the United States; preferred locations include Denver/Lakewood, Colorado, or Minneapolis, Minnesota.
