This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Conduct research, analysis, and forecasting of natural gas fundamentals and market trends within the Midwest region.
• Develop and sustain supply-demand balance models for Midwest natural gas, encompassing regional supply, Canadian imports, storage, pipeline flows, weather-dependent demand, power generation, industrial usage, and exports.
• Formulate both short-term and long-term market forecasts.
• Oversee pipeline operations, maintenance activities, constraints, storage utilization, import capacities, transportation corridors, and basis market fluctuations.
• Examine natural gas consumption patterns among industrial and agricultural end users in the Midwest, identifying structural, facility-related, outage, and economic trends.
• Evaluate pricing locations and basis relationships in the Midwest, including Chicago, Dawn, MichCon, Consumers Energy, ANR, Northern Natural Gas, and NGPL.
• Spot trading and commercial opportunities derived from transportation economics, supply sourcing, market connectivity, and infrastructure developments.
• Generate dashboards, presentations, recurring reports, and analytical tools.
• Work in collaboration with teams in origination, trading, operations, scheduling, and commodities analytics.
• Deliver market insights and strategic recommendations to Commodities leadership and senior management for decisions regarding strategy, asset optimization, and risk management.
• A bachelor's degree in economics, engineering, finance, data science, business, or a related discipline.
• Over 5 years of experience in the natural gas markets.
• Proven experience in constructing regional natural gas supply-demand balances and analyzing pipeline flows, weather-sensitive demand, storage activities, and basis markets.
• Proficient Excel modeling capabilities.
• Comprehensive understanding of the physical natural gas market, pipeline infrastructure, and pricing mechanisms.
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to synthesize and present complex information in a clear and persuasive manner.
• Capability to work autonomously, prioritize tasks effectively, and deliver high-quality results under pressure.
• Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.
• Familiarity with Python, SQL, Power BI, or other programming and visualization tools is advantageous.
• Experience in the Midwest natural gas markets is preferred.
• Knowledge of EIA, PointLogic, Genscape, pipeline EBBs, or other similar data sources.
• Prior experience supporting a trading desk is beneficial.
