Principal Full Stack Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Evaluate the current production codebase for security vulnerabilities, scalability issues, performance bottlenecks, architectural risks, data protection matters, and reliability challenges.

• Prioritize and enact practical enhancements to ensure a secure and stable public launch.

• Assume responsibility for the platform's technical integrity and architecture, ultimately becoming its internal technical steward.

• Oversee features from inception to completion, including data modeling, architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring, and production support.

• Engage with the entire stack, focusing primarily on backend development while also contributing to the Vue.js frontend.

• Act as the internal technical liaison for external engineering partners.

• Review architecture and code, validate deliverables, and ensure adherence to product, security, scalability, and production standards.

• Collaborate with the existing platform engineer for technical knowledge transfer.

• Manage production readiness and technical operations, including monitoring, troubleshooting, incident response, release preparedness, technical QA, and escalation of production issues.

• Design, automate, and implement functional, regression, load, and smoke testing.

• Identify and communicate technical risks proactively.

• Design and refine relational data models, PostgreSQL schemas, queries, indexes, migrations, and Prisma models.

• Work across integrations with services like Stripe Connect, LiveKit, Twilio, Zoom, Anthropic, and pgvector.

• Leverage AI coding agents to expedite development while ensuring correctness, reliability, security, and maintainability.

• Ideally contribute to the production AI architecture, including LLM integrations, RAG, agents, context management, retrieval, evaluation, and production reliability.

⛳️ Requirements

• 8 to 12+ years of experience in software engineering.

• Strong production experience with Vue.js.

• Extensive hands-on experience in relational database design.

• Preferred experience with PostgreSQL.

• Familiarity with Nuxt is an advantage.

• Experience with Prisma is a plus.

• Proven record of owning substantial components of a production platform, covering backend architecture, databases, APIs and integrations, infrastructure, deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, and production support.

• Experience evaluating production applications for security, scalability, reliability, and performance issues.

• Skilled in identifying vulnerabilities, safeguarding sensitive customer data, diagnosing bottlenecks, and implementing practical enhancements.

• Strong depth in backend engineering.

• Experience reviewing and validating work from engineers or external development partners.

• Ability to rapidly comprehend and contribute to an existing codebase and technical direction.

• Experience managing production readiness, including monitoring, incident troubleshooting, release processes, technical QA, and resolving critical production issues.

• Experience in regulated industries or high-volume e-commerce is a bonus.

• Demonstrated experience utilizing AI coding agents within a production codebase.

• Production experience with AI/LLM architecture, including RAG, agents, context management, and model integrations, is a strong plus.

• Highly organized and self-sufficient, capable of operating independently and making sound technical decisions.

• Ability to adapt to shifting priorities and increase technical ownership.

• Experience managing entire features and systems from architecture and data modeling through implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring, and ongoing production support.

• Availability for a minimum of 5–6 hours during an 8–5 or 9–6 MST schedule.
