Principal Full Stack Developer, Tech Experience

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of OleOle Sport’s technology platform, overseeing it from architectural design to production deployment.

• Design and develop a standalone consumer website along with a robust commerce platform.

• Integrate ticket and travel inventory from various providers.

• Create systems for managing inventory, availability, pricing, reservations/orders, checkout processes, payments, fulfillment, cancellations, refunds, and reconciliation.

• Develop abstraction layers to minimize reliance on a single provider.

• Design systems capable of handling significant traffic spikes and high-value transactions with high availability.

• Establish protocols for security, authentication, payment security, observability, testing, CI/CD, and production operations.

• Collaborate with the CTO, payments architecture leadership, product teams, design, and other platform groups.

• Recruit, mentor, and eventually lead a small, high-performing engineering team.

• Stay actively involved while making crucial technical decisions.

• Translate initial business requirements into a workable production architecture.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in the travel technology sector.

• Over 10 years of professional software engineering experience.

• Significant background at Staff, Principal, Lead, Architect, or an equivalent role.

• Proven track record in architecting and developing high-scale consumer transactional platforms.

• Direct experience in areas such as travel, ticketing, hospitality, reservations, booking platforms, marketplaces, or complex e-commerce is highly preferred.

• Practical experience with inventory, availability, pricing, reservations/orders, checkout, payments, fulfillment, cancellations, refunds, and reconciliation.

• Experience integrating external suppliers, vendors, APIs, payment providers, or inventory sources.

• Strong knowledge of transactional reliability, idempotency, retries, concurrency, inventory holds, partial failures, asynchronous workflows, reconciliation, and recovery.

• Extensive full-stack engineering experience using modern consumer web technologies.

• Familiarity with technologies such as React, Next.js, TypeScript, Java, Go, Rust, Python, PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka, AWS, Kubernetes, or similar is advantageous.

• Experience in designing highly available systems capable of managing traffic spikes and high-value transactions.

• Understanding of security, authentication, payment security, observability, testing, CI/CD, and production operations.

• Experience with international and multilingual consumer products is highly desirable.

• Experience in architecting large-scale SEO or programmatic SEO platforms is a significant advantage.

• Production experience with AI/LLM systems, agents, tool/function calling, recommendation systems, or AI-assisted content/data platforms is beneficial.

• Ability to collaborate closely with the CTO, payments architecture leadership, product, design, and platform teams.

• Willingness and ability to remain deeply engaged in hands-on work.

• Experience in recruiting, mentoring, and leading a small, high-performing engineering team.

• Strong product judgment with the capability to convert early-stage requirements into production architecture.

• Ability to navigate ambiguity, shifting priorities, and the challenges of early-stage company growth.

• Knowledge of football and international sports is a plus.
