This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Define and steer the strategic direction for frontend engineering practices, tools, and skillsets throughout the organization.
• Lead the development of accessible, high-performing, user-centered web applications catering to government clients.
• Act as the technical authority and thought leader for frontend architecture and engineering excellence.
• Design and implement frontend architectures, development pipelines, and deployment infrastructures.
• Deliver features and enhancements to customer-facing applications with a focus on user experience and compliance with accessibility standards.
• Collaborate with product managers to strike a balance between UI/UX quality and implementation effort.
• Build and maintain component libraries, design systems, and shared frontend infrastructure.
• Modernize the frontend stack and spearhead technical initiatives that enhance developer experience and application quality.
• Establish frontend best practices for mobile-first development, testing, performance, accessibility, and code quality.
• Mentor and coach engineers while establishing career pathways for frontend specialization.
• Influence technical decisions across teams and provide guidance on frontend initiatives.
• Work across the full stack as needed to resolve problems end-to-end.
• Over 10 years of relevant experience.
• Proven track record of leading and delivering multiple production-ready, accessible frontend applications.
• Demonstrated experience in architecting and implementing modern frontend applications at scale using React and/or Angular.
• Familiarity with establishing frontend engineering standards, practices, and tools.
• Experience with frontend build tools, bundling strategies, and deployment pipelines, including Webpack, Vite, pnpm, npm, or similar technologies.
• Strong understanding of WCAG 2.1 AA and Section 508 compliance, with practical experience in accessibility implementation.
• Experience with accessibility linting and automated accessibility testing in CI/CD pipelines.
• Proficient in automated unit, component, and end-to-end UI testing using tools like Playwright, Cypress, or similar.
• Familiarity with frontend infrastructure, CDN strategies, asset optimization, and progressive enhancement.
• Experience with design systems and component libraries.
• Strong expertise in modern JavaScript/TypeScript and web platform APIs.
• Understanding of CSS architecture, mobile-first responsive design, and cross-browser compatibility.
• Knowledge of Jest, Vitest, React Testing Library, Angular Testing Library, and Playwright.
• Experience integrating accessibility validation using axe-core or similar tools.
• Knowledge of state management and asynchronous data handling.
• Awareness of web performance optimization, Core Web Vitals, and frontend monitoring.
• Understanding of GraphQL or REST API integration and backend services.
• Familiarity with CDN and static hosting deployment patterns.
• Experience in establishing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with accessibility checks, linting, and testing.
• Strong product-oriented mindset and knowledge of contemporary UI/UX principles and user-centered design.
• Experience working alongside product managers and designers on customer-facing applications.
• Data-driven approach utilizing analytics and user feedback.
• Ability to lead large-scale technical initiatives and influence multiple teams.
• Proficient in communicating complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Proven experience in mentoring and developing engineers.
• Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain and maintain Public Trust 6C.
• The position requires approximately 0–10% business travel.
