Principal Equipment Engineer, Adhesion & Assembly

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Develop, integrate, and validate advanced manufacturing equipment and automation solutions for Adhesion & Assembly processes.

• Take ownership of assigned equipment development workstreams, which include design collaboration, integration, commissioning, and factory acceptance.

• Collaborate with equipment OEMs, system integrators, and automation suppliers.

• Oversee daily technical vendor interactions and challenge design assumptions to ensure manufacturability and scalability.

• Assist in equipment architecture, controls strategy, robotics integration, and implementation of functional safety.

• Convert intricate manufacturing challenges into feasible equipment designs.

• Conduct technical assessments, design reviews, and troubleshooting for automated assembly, adhesive dispensing, bonding, and smart torque systems.

• Support standardized equipment and process platforms that can be utilized across various sites.

• Collaborate with manufacturing sites, Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, EHS, and other departments to establish technical requirements.

• Engage in commissioning, startup, debugging, and transferring new equipment to manufacturing locations.

• Prepare engineering documentation, specifications, test plans, and validation reports.

• Offer subject matter expertise for enterprise automation and assembly initiatives.

• Identify design risks, integration challenges, and performance deficiencies; propose and implement solutions autonomously.

• May provide mentorship to junior engineers and assist in building team capabilities.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related field with at least 5 years of experience.

• Proven experience in the development, integration, or deployment of industrial manufacturing equipment.

• Strong background in industrial automation and robotics.

• Proficient understanding of industrial controls, PLC-based systems, and equipment integration.

• Familiarity with functional safety and machine safety principles.

• Direct experience working with equipment OEMs, system integrators, or automation suppliers.

• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 30% of the time.

• U.S. citizenship is required.

• Preferred: Experience with automated assembly, adhesive application, bonding, or torque-related manufacturing equipment.

• Preferred: Capability to evaluate and troubleshoot complex engineering solutions.

• Preferred: Background in industrial robotics, automated manufacturing cells, and equipment integration.

• Preferred: Experience in commissioning, debugging, acceptance testing, and production ramp support.

• Preferred: Experience in multi-site equipment deployment.

• Preferred: Familiarity with machine vision, precision assembly systems, or material dispensing technologies.

• Preferred: Ability to collaborate with vendors and critically assess technical designs.

• Preferred: Strong hands-on problem-solving, root-cause analysis, and technical execution abilities.
