Principal Engineer – Full-Stack TypeScript, Node.js, React, Cloud

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and deploy full-stack web applications in TypeScript utilizing React/Next.js and Node.js services and APIs.

• Create and manage back-end services, APIs, and integrate with third-party systems.

• Deploy, manage, and monitor applications on Google Cloud or AWS, covering infrastructure, CI/CD, task queues, observability, security, and cost management.

• Take full ownership of product areas from problem identification and technical design to implementation, testing, deployment, and continuous enhancement.

• Collaborate with creative, production, and operations teams to convert workflows into dependable software solutions.

• Incorporate AI functionalities, LLM APIs, agents, and automation features into applications.

• Promote code review practices, testing standards, documentation, and engineering best practices.

• Act as the technical lead on selected client web projects and occasionally oversee freelance developers.

• Assess and suggest tools, frameworks, and methodologies as Hook's requirements evolve.

• Manage Hook's internal applications and oversee platform architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, and long-term sustainability.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of professional experience in software engineering.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in production-level TypeScript/JavaScript as the primary programming language.

• Advanced proficiency in TypeScript, including advanced types, generics, strict-mode codebases, and type-safe API contracts, along with JavaScript runtime knowledge.

• Extensive experience with Node.js, specifically in building and maintaining production HTTP APIs and back-end services using Express or a similar framework.

• Strong expertise in React, covering component architecture, hooks, state management, data fetching, performance optimization, and CSS solutions.

• Experience with production-level Next.js, including App Router, server components, server-side rendering, routing, and caching mechanisms.

• Solid practical experience with Google Cloud Platform or AWS for deploying and operating production applications.

• Familiarity with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and environment/secrets management.

• Strong SQL skills with PostgreSQL or similar databases, along with a working knowledge of document databases.

• Experience in unit, integration, and end-to-end testing using tools such as Vitest/Jest and Playwright.

• Committed to writing secure, reliable, and maintainable code, along with sound architectural decision-making.

• Proficient in AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot.

• Capable of articulating architecture clearly to engineers, creatives, producers, and clients.

• Ability to work independently, navigate ambiguity, and manage projects from production and beyond.

• A resume, statement of interest, and code samples are required; TypeScript work is preferred where applicable.

• Willingness to discuss code in detail during interviews.
