Principal Electrical Integration Engineer – Data Center Infrastructure

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Design, create, and integrate electrical systems for power and cooling products in data centers, as well as for factory enablement projects.

• Oversee and manage electrical systems related to data centers, energy storage systems, and HVAC applications.

• Develop specifications, select components, route wires and cables, establish connections, and facilitate the transition of designs to manufacturing.

• Conduct PLD design and component selection for transformers, breakers, relays, UPS, ATS, and similar equipment.

• Review vendor drawings and prepare BOMs, calculations, data sheets, detailed drawings, specifications, and testing plans.

• Assess the operations of electrical systems and recommend modifications to rectify malfunctions or adapt to requirement changes.

• Collaborate on the design and development of new products including low-voltage switchgear, power distribution cabinets, and LV panel boards.

• Lead the electrical engineering design process and conduct design reviews.

• Prepare and review short-circuit coordination studies, maintaining software models in accordance with as-built site conditions.

• Review control panel designs ensuring compliance with UL standards.

• Evaluate requirements and address gaps between conceptual designs and manufacturing readiness.

• Interface with internal and external teams in mission-critical design engineering, server hardware, environmental health and safety, and controls engineering.

• Collaborate with system architects to comprehend product specifications and electrical system architecture.

• Work with project managers on design quotations.

• Identify and mitigate project risks that may impact plans and schedules.

• Monitor product delivery to ensure quality and adherence to schedules.

• Test, debug, and validate electrical systems while supporting manufacturing processes.

• Manage relationships with vendors of electrical components and contract manufacturers.

• Stay updated with technologies and methods to maintain competitive and cost-effective designs.

• Propose R&D project ideas to enhance areas of competency.

• Evaluate engineering feasibility and cost-effectiveness in collaboration with management and production staff.

• Perform other assigned duties.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering field.

• 8+ years of experience in electrical design and fabrication, focusing on data center or industrial power systems.

• Proficiency in ECAD tools (AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, SolidWorks Electrical) and their integration with mechanical CAD platforms.

• Strong knowledge of MV/HV power distribution, lithium-ion UPS systems, and three-phase electrical infrastructure.

• Experience with electrical analysis tools (ETAP, SKM PowerTools, EasyPower).

• Proven background in facility-level electrical design and construction support.

• Experience in electrical design, fabrication, power distribution products, and equipment testing in compliance with current codes and standards.

• Capacity to perform PLD design, component selection, wire and cable sizing and routing, and make connections.

• Ability to conduct vendor drawing reviews and prepare BOMs, calculations, data sheets, detailed drawings, specifications, and testing plans.

• Strong understanding of single-line and schematic diagrams.

• Experience in preparing/reviewing short-circuit coordination studies and maintaining software models to reflect as-built site conditions.

• Knowledge of control panel design and UL standards.

• Familiarity with PLCM stage-gate processes.

• Ability to evaluate projects, articulate risks, and devise project milestones.

• Excellent problem-solving skills along with meticulous attention to detail.

• Preferred: Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.

• Preferred: Active Professional Engineer (PE) license.

• Preferred: Experience with data center infrastructure, including UPS systems, switchgear, CRAC units, and PDUs.

• Preferred: Familiarity with UL, CE, RoHS, REACH, and IEEE compliance standards.

• Preferred: Hands-on experience with panel fabrication, wiring, and system integration.

• Preferred: Knowledge of thermal and mechanical constraints in electrical enclosure design and experience with global suppliers and contract manufacturers.

• Preferred: Experience using WindChill and DevOps.
