Principal Design Manager – Data Centers

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +6 more states.

📋 Description

• Deliver enterprise-level design leadership for intricate, high-risk, or strategically significant data center initiatives.

• Oversee a portfolio of significant developments and multi-site customer projects.

• Manage systemic design risks across international markets to safeguard investment decisions.

• Develop global reference designs, delivery frameworks, and assurance playbooks.

• Convert market trends, operational data, and emerging technologies into scalable requirements.

• Address precedent-setting, highly ambiguous technical challenges.

• Advise senior executives on design strategy, commercial trade-offs, and long-term capability requirements.

• Collaborate cross-functionally with Construction, Operations, Finance, and Security teams.

• Mentor senior professionals and advocate for communities of practice without direct management authority.

⛳️ Requirements

• Generally, 15+ years of relevant experience.

• Leadership experience in major data center or mission-critical capital programs across various projects or markets.

• Extensive technical knowledge in critical-facility design.

• Proven capability to govern multi-site programs.

• Ability to create scalable playbooks.

• Competence in managing enterprise-level risk.

• Outstanding negotiation, communication, and judgment skills.

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

• U.S. Citizenship required.

• Willingness to travel up to 25%.

• Professional registration or an engineering license is highly preferred.
