This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Mexico.

📋 Description

• Analyze designs, technical specifications, and schematics related to civil and geotechnical elements of dams, hydropower initiatives, levees, and flood management systems.

• Create resource plans, proposals, bidding timelines, and cost projections for dams and water infrastructure projects.

• Assess and compile technical documentation and evaluation memoranda to meet regulatory standards.

• Conduct site assessments and inspections of dams; supervise data gathering, organization, and analysis.

• Execute interdisciplinary technical evaluations focusing on technical methodologies, industry best practices, client requirements, and construction feasibility.

• Supervise construction tasks to ensure adherence to engineering plans and specifications.

• Address construction-related challenges by assessing issues and proposed remedies.

• Manage field exploration, characterization, and laboratory testing for soil and rock materials.

• Lead dam analysis and design teams, covering seismic stability and seepage assessments.

• Direct field quality assurance for dam and hydropower construction projects.

• Evaluate contractor submissions and information requests for compliance with contract specifications.

• Collaborate with technical specialists on business development projects.

• Advocate for AECOM's expertise in dams and hydropower to potential clients.

• Assist senior management in crafting business strategies.

• Detect and pursue new clients and project opportunities.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Geophysics, Mining, Geoscience, Civil Engineering, or a comparable field, accompanied by 10 years of experience as a Dam Engineer, Geotechnical Engineer, Geotechnical Team Lead, or a similar role; alternatively, a Master's degree in one of these disciplines with 8 years of experience.

• Background in dam and hydropower design and construction.

• Familiarity with dam safety assessments, regulations, and codes.

• Experience in engineering during construction phases, resident engineering, and quality assurance/control processes.

• Proficient in reviewing plans, specifications, cost projections, and technical documentation for dams and hydropower projects.

• Ability to provide technical assistance to Dams Project Managers, covering design, analysis, inspections, and regulatory compliance activities.

• Experience in conducting geo-hazard assessments and technical evaluations.

• Proven ability in project management support, including client relations, contract oversight, planning and execution, and financial management.

• Expertise in supervising slope stability and seepage evaluations, as well as designing slope stabilization strategies for dams, spillways, and levees.

• Demonstrated success in identifying and pursuing new clients and opportunities aligned with business development objectives.

• Experience in supervising and mentoring staff in geotechnical investigations, analyses, reporting, and construction monitoring.

• Willingness to travel domestically up to 15% of the time.

• Newly onboarded employees are required to attend an in-person Day 1 orientation at an AECOM office location.
