Principal Consultant – RALS Informatics

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +5 more states.

📋 Description

• Act as the main technical and functional authority for the RALS platform.

• Provide guidance to customers and internal teams regarding laboratory informatics workflows, system functionalities, and best practices.

• Collaborate with Product Management, Professional Services, Customer Success, Support, Sales, Engineering, Quality, and Regulatory teams.

• Oversee solution design, implementation planning, upgrade initiatives, and adoption strategies for intricate customer environments.

• Serve as the primary escalation point for issues related to technical, workflow, integration, compliance, and business processes.

• Assist customers in enhancing laboratory workflows, improving operational efficiency, achieving compliance goals, and maximizing solution value.

• Conduct discovery sessions, architecture discussions, customer workshops, and engage with executive stakeholders.

• Set standards for implementation, create solution design frameworks, configuration guidelines, and support models.

• Analyze industry trends, regulatory requirements, and data integrity needs to identify opportunities for innovation and product improvements.

• Assess third-party integrations and relevant supporting technologies.

• Facilitate training programs, technical forums, webinars, workshops, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.

• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to consultants, implementation teams, and customer-facing personnel.

• Represent Abbott as a credible laboratory informatics authority through customer interactions, industry involvement, and thought leadership.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences, Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Over 12 years of experience in engineering, laboratory informatics, healthcare technology, laboratory operations, or a related sector.

• Proven experience leading complex software implementations, enterprise deployments, upgrades, or strategic initiatives for customers.

• Extensive knowledge of laboratory informatics workflows, healthcare technology ecosystems, systems integration, and regulated operating environments.

• Experience in advising cross-functional teams on technical, operational, compliance, and implementation challenges.

• Strong ability to convey complex technical and business concepts to technical teams, leadership, and customer stakeholders.

• Master’s degree in a related field is preferred.

• Familiarity with RALS, laboratory middleware, laboratory information systems (LIS), connectivity platforms, or quality management solutions is preferred.

• Background in laboratory diagnostics, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, healthcare technology, nutritional products, or other regulated life sciences industries is preferred.

• Proven technical achievements through product innovation, publications, conference presentations, participation in professional societies, patents, mentoring, or recognized expertise in the subject matter is preferred.

• Experience in influencing decisions and aligning diverse groups of stakeholders is preferred.

• Knowledge of laboratory compliance requirements, data integrity principles, and relevant regulatory standards is preferred.

• Experience in supporting third-party integrations and enterprise healthcare technology environments is preferred.
