Principal, Clinical Strategy and Execution

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the operational aspects of Headway’s clinical organization.

• Manage the operations of the clinical governance committee, which includes charters, membership, meeting schedules, agendas, pre-reads, minutes, decision logs, and action items.

• Oversee the clinical team’s operational cadence, such as staff meetings, planning sessions, offsites, cross-functional forums, and internal communication.

• Lead the clinical organization’s OKR cycle from start to finish, including drafting, calibration, alignment, baseline and target setting, resource coordination, check-ins, scoring, retrospectives, and maintaining the source of truth.

• Manage the clinical policy lifecycle, encompassing intake, drafting and revision, review and approval routing, version control, effective dates, re-review, enablement, distribution, attestation, and training handoffs.

• Supervise the execution of clinical programs under the guidance of clinical leadership, which includes plans, milestones, dependencies, owners, status reporting, escalation, coordination, metrics, and outcomes.

• Systematize clinical risk register entries within Headway’s enterprise risk register, covering intake, triage, scoring, documentation, audits, risk ownership, mitigations, and reporting.

• Serve as the primary administrative liaison between the clinical team and departments such as Compliance, Operations, Legal, Product, Growth, and others.

• Lead through ownership and influence as a senior individual contributor.

• Develop governance infrastructure that scales alongside Headway’s network, service lines, and regulatory landscape.

• Collaborate with a Senior Clinical Strategy Associate on committee and operational rhythms.

⛳️ Requirements

• Active clinical license as a master’s level therapist (LCSW, LPC, LMFT), doctorate level clinical psychologist (PhD/PsyD), or other psychiatric clinician (PMHNP-BC, MD/DO).

• Over 7 years of experience in mental health settings.

• Comfortable with ambiguity and possesses a builder's mindset.

• Capable of creating robust systems from the ground up and managing complexity while maintaining attention to detail.

• Experience in clinical governance and policy development.

• Background supporting committees, facilitating policy or protocol reviews and approvals, or contributing to risk, accreditation, or audit processes in a clinical or healthcare environment.

• Proven track record of operational excellence and holding programs to high standards and timelines without formal authority.

• Experience overseeing multiple concurrent initiatives.

• Data-informed mindset, including establishing baselines and targets, collaborating with data teams, and reporting progress quantitatively.

• Strong collaboration skills without relying on formal authority.

• Driven to enhance access to affordable, high-quality mental healthcare.
