Principal Business Technology Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, build, test, deploy, and maintain lightweight applications, scripts, services, and workflow automations.

• Write efficient SQL and engage with both relational and analytical data models.

• Construct and troubleshoot transformations, pipelines, reconciliations, and reporting datasets.

• Design, develop, and resolve issues related to SaaS and internal-system integrations.

• Implement authentication, transformation logic, retries, error management, logging, monitoring, and production support.

• Act as the hands-on technical owner for CRM, ERP, analytics/data platforms, billing, and associated systems.

• Configure and enhance enterprise platforms utilizing native workflows, custom objects, APIs, scripts, and platform-specific tools.

• Identify root causes across code, databases, APIs, scheduled jobs, permissions, and vendor platforms.

• Apply source control, testing, code reviews, documentation, release management, and secure development practices.

• Review and critically assess technical work produced by vendors or contractors.

• Transform vague business requirements into clear requirements, technical designs, actionable workstreams, and prioritized backlogs.

• Maintain milestones, responsible parties, dependencies, risks, decision logs, and status reporting throughout implementation and stabilization.

• Define vendor work, evaluate technical strategies, oversee implementation partners, and ensure quality, timelines, documentation, and knowledge transfer.

• Collaborate with Finance, Operations, Sales, and other departments to identify bottlenecks and create technological solutions.

• Communicate technical trade-offs, project status, resource requirements, risks, and decisions to senior leadership.

• Contribute to the roadmap, governance, mentoring, hiring, and team leadership over time.

⛳️ Requirements

• 8+ years of proven hands-on experience in software engineering, data engineering, enterprise applications, or solutions engineering.

• Experience delivering results in a fast-paced project-based environment (consulting or similar) is essential.

• Strong foundation in SQL and API/integration principles is required.

• Familiarity with CRM/ERP platforms and modern cloud/SaaS environments is highly preferred.

• Experience with Zoho, NetSuite, Snowflake, DataNest, or similar platforms is advantageous but not mandatory.

• Proficiency in Python or a similar general-purpose programming language is expected.

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.

• Willingness and ability to travel as necessary.

• Experience collaborating directly with business stakeholders to gather requirements, prioritize tasks, and independently deliver analytics or integration solutions.

• Experience in developing or maintaining system integrations using RESTful APIs.
