Principal AI Architect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Define the technical strategy and lead the architectural design for comprehensive engagements involving cloud, data, and AI/ML systems.

• Architect scalable cloud-native solutions, incorporating multi-cloud and hybrid strategies.

• Design data architectures that encompass warehouses, data lakes, and batch and streaming pipelines.

• Develop AI/ML systems, including model serving, MLOps pipelines, feature stores, and applications based on large language models (LLMs).

• Establish infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, and DevOps standards across various engagements.

• Enhance performance, scalability, cost-effectiveness, and reliability across implemented systems.

• Ensure that the architecture complies with security, governance, and regulatory requirements.

• Lead initiatives for cloud migrations and platform modernization.

• Utilize AI-centric tools such as Claude and Cursor to deliver high-quality work efficiently.

• Collaborate with senior leadership and clients as the primary technical advisor on strategy and direction.

• Convey complex technical concepts to both engineering and non-engineering stakeholders effectively.

• Align architectural designs with business objectives across engineering, data, AI, and product teams.

• Create and maintain architecture documentation, standards, and guidelines.

• Advocate for architectural standards and best practices.

• Mentor seasoned engineers and architects.

• Take ownership of complex architectural and integration challenges as the senior technical decision-maker.

• Assess emerging technologies and suggest tools, frameworks, and patterns.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years of experience in software engineering.

• At least 5 years of experience in technical leadership roles.

• Extensive expertise in cloud platforms and cloud-native architectures, including AWS, Azure, or GCP.

• Solid foundation in microservices, serverless architectures, containers, and event-driven systems.

• Proficient in infrastructure as code and CI/CD practices.

• Strong data architecture knowledge across relational, NoSQL, and big data systems.

• Practical experience with data modeling, ETL/ELT pipelines, and orchestration.

• Significant experience in designing production AI/ML systems, such as LLMs, MLOps, and model serving.

• Understanding of networking, security, identity, and access management within cloud environments.

• Familiarity with governance, compliance, and observability frameworks.

• Strong software engineering skills in Python, APIs, and containerization.

• Proven track record of senior technical leadership and mentoring experienced engineers.

• Excellent communication skills with stakeholders.

• Demonstrated experience using AI-centric tools such as Claude and Cursor.

• Experience in multi-cloud architecture, AI ethics or responsible AI, or enterprise architecture certifications is a plus.

• Experience in designing AI/ML solutions that integrate with SAP EAM data structures via SAP BTP or cloud-native APIs is an added advantage.
