Primary Therapist, Eating Disorders

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Facilitate individual therapy sessions for participants in the Over-18 Eating Disorders Program.

• Create and execute personalized treatment strategies.

• Offer secondary support during meals and snacks.

• Collaborate with outpatient teams involved in patient care.

• Guide patients throughout their comprehensive treatment journey.

• Work alongside Registered Dietitians, Group Therapists, Family Therapists, and Psychiatry Team Members.

• Conduct initial intake assessments to ascertain diagnosis and suitability for the program.

• Develop and sustain transdiagnostic case formulations.

• Organize treatment according to the program's treatment target hierarchy.

• Provide evidence-based interventions for eating disorders, including CBT-E, exposure therapy, CBT-AR, ERP, DBT, and ACT.

• Assign, design, and review personalized homework and exposure tasks.

• Recognize and address safety behaviors and accommodations.

• Act as case lead and facilitate treatment team collaboration.

• Participate in interdisciplinary treatment discussions and engage family members.

• Utilize Compass’s Evidence-Based Assessment system to track progress and inform treatment planning.

• Coordinate with external providers and manage aftercare transitions.

• Monitor medical status in collaboration with nursing and prescribing teams, identify medical instability, and escalate as necessary following protocols.

• Evaluate the need for a higher level of care, stepping down, or discharge.

• Provide secondary non-RD support for meals and snacks.

• Complete necessary documentation for treatment.

• Engage in program training, fidelity assessment, supervision, and consultation.

• Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be independently licensed as a psychologist, LCSW, LCPC, or LMFT in the state of Illinois (required).

• Demonstrated experience in treating eating disorders (required).

• A minimum of 2 years post-Master's clinical experience in eating disorder treatment (preferred).

• Experience in treating OCD, anxiety, PTSD, and/or depression (preferred).

• Background in PHP, IOP, residential, or inpatient settings.

• Proficient understanding of eating disorder treatment and associated co-occurring conditions.

• Ability to implement interventions targeting maintaining mechanisms of disorders while managing patient distress without accommodating or reassuring.

• Practices within a weight-inclusive framework.

• Follows an “all foods fit” philosophy regarding clinical nutrition.

• Adheres to established curriculum and fidelity standards.

• Actively seeks and utilizes supervision and consultation.

• Strong time management skills with the capacity to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
