Preconstruction Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Oversee and direct the preconstruction phase from initial design concepts to the readiness for construction.

• Work collaboratively with project managers, architects, engineers, clients, and internal teams to establish the project scope, budget, timeline, and objectives.

• Coordinate and participate in preconstruction meetings with all relevant stakeholders.

• Create and oversee project cost estimates that encompass materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor proposals.

• Execute value engineering and pinpoint opportunities for cost reduction.

• Formulate and manage initial construction schedules and comprehensive timelines.

• Recognize preconstruction risks and devise strategies for mitigation.

• Review contract documents to identify any issues or discrepancies.

• Maintain all drawings, specifications, contracts, and other essential preconstruction documentation.

• Provide updates on progress to senior management, clients, and stakeholders.

• Guide and mentor estimators, coordinators, and assistants.

• Cultivate relationships with clients, subcontractors, and external partners.

• Act as the main client liaison during the preconstruction phase.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a similar field (preferred).

• A minimum of 5–7 years of experience in construction management or preconstruction.

• Solid understanding of estimating, budgeting, and scheduling processes.

• Demonstrated experience in managing intricate construction projects from concept through to completion.

• Strong knowledge of construction processes, project management practices, and preconstruction methodologies.

• Proficiency in construction management software such as Procore, Buildertrend, or ProEst.

• Competency in Microsoft Office Suite.

• Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal abilities.

• Keen attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.

• Capability to work efficiently under pressure and adhere to strict deadlines.

• LEED AP, PMP, or other relevant certifications are preferred.

• OSHA 30-hour certification or equivalent safety training is required.
