Preconstruction Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.

📋 Description

• Oversee and direct the preconstruction phase from initial design through to construction readiness.

• Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and clients to clarify project scope, budget, timeline, and objectives.

• Organize and participate in preconstruction meetings with stakeholders.

• Create and manage project cost estimates that include materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor proposals.

• Conduct value engineering and pinpoint opportunities for cost savings.

• Formulate and manage preliminary construction schedules and key milestones.

• Coordinate subcontractor engagement, material procurement, and preparation timelines for the site.

• Identify preconstruction risks and establish mitigation strategies.

• Review contract documents to identify any issues or inconsistencies.

• Maintain drawings, specifications, contracts, and other documentation pertinent to preconstruction.

• Provide progress reports to senior leadership, clients, and stakeholders.

• Lead and mentor estimators, coordinators, and assistants.

• Promote collaboration and communication within the preconstruction team.

• Sustain relationships with clients, subcontractors, and external partners.

• Act as the primary contact for clients during the preconstruction phase.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline (preferred).

• At least 5–7 years of experience in construction management or preconstruction.

• Strong grasp of estimating, budgeting, and scheduling practices.

• Demonstrated experience in managing intricate construction projects from inception to completion.

• Solid understanding of construction processes, project management, and preconstruction techniques.

• Proficient in construction management software such as Procore, Buildertrend, and ProEst.

• Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite.

• Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal abilities.

• Strong attention to detail and adept problem-solving skills.

• Capability to work efficiently under pressure and meet stringent deadlines.

• LEED AP, PMP, or other relevant certifications are a plus.

• OSHA 30-hour certification or equivalent safety training is required.
