Preconstruction Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Oversee and direct the preconstruction phase, guiding it from conceptual design to readiness for construction.

• Work in partnership with project managers, architects, engineers, and clients to establish project scope, budget, timeline, and objectives.

• Coordinate and participate in preconstruction meetings with relevant stakeholders.

• Create and oversee project cost estimates that encompass materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor bids.

• Conduct value engineering and pinpoint opportunities for cost savings.

• Formulate and manage initial construction schedules along with detailed project timelines.

• Recognize preconstruction risks and devise strategies for their mitigation.

• Examine contract documents for any issues or inconsistencies.

• Keep accurate records and documentation, including drawings, specifications, and contracts.

• Provide regular updates to senior leadership, clients, and stakeholders.

• Lead and mentor estimators, coordinators, and assistants.

• Promote collaboration and communication within the preconstruction team.

• Sustain relationships with clients, subcontractors, and external partners.

• Act as the main client contact during the preconstruction phase.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (preferred).

• A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in construction management or preconstruction.

• Strong grasp of estimating, budgeting, and scheduling processes.

• Demonstrated experience in managing intricate construction projects from inception to completion.

• Comprehensive knowledge of construction processes, project management, and preconstruction methodologies.

• Proficient in construction management software such as Procore, Buildertrend, or ProEst.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

• Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal abilities.

• High attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.

• Ability to perform effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

• LEED AP, PMP, or other relevant certifications.

• OSHA 30-hour certification or equivalent safety training.
