Practice Architect II – AI/ML

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of architectural direction for agentic AI and full-stack solutions across designated projects.

• Convert business and technical requirements into scalable and sustainable solution architectures.

• Establish architecture standards and design patterns for delivery teams.

• Oversee code reviews and architecture review gates, making final technical trade-off decisions.

• Write production code for customer engagements approximately 40–60% of the time.

• Develop reusable accelerators, frameworks, and reference architectures across various projects.

• Assess emerging technologies and architectural patterns, deciding what will be included in the technology stack.

• Assist engineering teams in overcoming implementation challenges.

• Provide technical guidance to engineering pods across multiple concurrent projects.

• Lead offshore technical leads, ensuring the design intent is maintained during handoffs to distributed teams.

• Mentor engineers on architecture, code quality, and contemporary engineering practices.

• Act as the senior technical representative to customer architects, engineering leaders, and executives.

• Communicate architecture decisions, risks, and trade-offs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Identify technical risks and dependencies early on, providing mitigation options.

• Foster alignment among customer product, engineering, and business stakeholders.

• Deliver production systems from enterprise data onboarding through to operational phases.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.

• Over 10 years of experience in software engineering and architecture, including more than 3 years as a lead or principal architect.

• At least 2 years of experience building production AI/agentic systems that are deployed and operational, rather than pilot projects or proofs of concept.

• Proficient in onboarding enterprise data and creating a governed knowledge or semantic layer, including entitlement and lineage.

• Capable of articulating the security and identity model for agents working with enterprise data.

• Actively coding and able to complete a hands-on technical assessment.

• Experience leading offshore or distributed engineering teams.

• Skilled in defining RACI across customer, onshore, and offshore teams during live engagements.

• Proven track record of production delivery on at least two of the following: AWS, Azure, or GCP.

• Customer-facing experience at both engineering-leadership and executive levels.

• Knowledge in agentic AI, AI-powered solution design, and modern application architecture.

• Expertise in solution architecture and system design.

• Hands-on experience in software development and prototyping.

• Familiarity with AI-assisted coding at scale for production deployment.

• Experience with code reviews, engineering standards, and quality governance.

• Knowledge in RAG and retrieval architecture, vector and hybrid search, embedding pipelines, and retrieval quality tuning.

• Understanding of agent security, identity management, least-privilege tool access, data-boundary enforcement, and auditing.

• Experience with agent execution harnesses, orchestration, failure handling, and human-in-the-loop workflows.

• Familiarity with evaluation harnesses, regression suites, groundedness and retrieval quality metrics, as well as cost and latency instrumentation.

• Proficiency in Python, TypeScript/Node, strong SQL, and agent frameworks such as LangGraph or LlamaIndex, along with MCP, containers, CI/CD, and IaC.
