Conversation AI Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.

📋 Description

• Lead and nurture conversation designers and conversational AI engineers deployed in the field.

• Conduct consistent one-on-one meetings, set clear expectations, perform performance evaluations, and facilitate career advancement.

• Mentor designers on design judgment and engineers on the skills necessary for implementing conversational AI.

• Provide prompt feedback, tackle underperformance issues, and foster a culture that encourages questions and constructive challenges.

• Enhance onboarding and coaching methods.

• Oversee the quality of conversation design, focusing on wording, tone, cognitive load, and recovery from misunderstandings.

• Develop shared principles, examples, and review processes for LOLA’s voice.

• Assess conversations from the patient's viewpoint.

• Design for diverse communication needs, varying health literacy levels, and different levels of technology familiarity.

• Ensure that executed experiences maintain design intent and function reliably within patient and clinical workflows.

• Measure the quality of protocols and take proactive steps to enhance them.

• Guide the processes of discovery, design, implementation, integration, testing, review, and release.

• Coordinate the necessary clinical and technical approvals for safe releases.

• Manage workload across various workstreams, balancing new protocols, enhancements, and quality initiatives.

• Clarify priorities, dependencies, and trade-offs while resolving obstacles with stakeholders.

• Create repeatable design and engineering workflows.

• Foster collaboration with other teams to develop client demonstrations.

• Collaborate with technical leads, the Conversation AI tech lead, product teams, and clinical colleagues.

• Translate patient requirements and clinical needs into clear, technically sound, and reliable conversational experiences.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in conversational AI, conversational design, voice UX, or a closely related field.

• Proven examples of experiences that have been designed, implemented, evaluated, or enhanced.

• Strong design judgment and exceptional attention to language, interaction patterns, and diverse user needs.

• Practical engineering experience with products powered by AI.

• Ability to comprehend and discuss code, APIs, integrations, testing, and debugging.

• Experience in managing and developing personnel across design and engineering sectors.

• Experienced in providing feedback, engaging in performance discussions, and supporting career development.

• Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional delivery while managing competing priorities.

• Familiarity with prompting, conversational AI systems, and AI-assisted quality review.

• Ability to identify when human review is necessary.

• Capability to clearly articulate design and technical decisions, transforming expertise into reusable practices for the team.

• Sufficient hands-on engineering experience to effectively guide and mentor forward-deployed conversational AI engineers.

• Experience in healthcare or another field where clarity, trust, and thorough review are crucial is advantageous.

• Experience in designing voice experiences that cater to diverse accessibility and health literacy needs is a plus.

• Experience in developing conversation guidelines, review frameworks, or onboarding programs is a plus.

• Experience in utilizing conversation research, feedback, or performance data to enhance live experiences is a plus.
