This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Finland.
• Generate public interest in scandiweb, its internal initiatives, company advancements, and selected client projects.
• Collaborate closely with company founders and business leaders to pinpoint stories worthy of public attention.
• Identify PR opportunities across various projects, client engagements, internal discussions, product innovations, research, technical accomplishments, and market developments.
• Transform complex or mundane topics into compelling narratives featuring strong headlines, tension, consequences, and reasons for engagement.
• Design innovative PR campaigns and stunts.
• Create newsworthy moments through events, benchmarks, challenges, experiments, debates, collaborations, or campaigns.
• Develop multiple media angles for core events tailored for different audiences.
• Research relevant journalists, editors, newsletter authors, podcasters, creators, analysts, and industry communities.
• Prepare customized pitches and carry out outreach via email, social media, calls, introductions, events, and other channels.
• Foster long-term relationships with media professionals.
• Coordinate interviews, expert commentary, supporting data, visuals, demonstrations, customer testimonials, and spokesperson preparation.
• Work alongside content, design, video, data, and development teams to produce materials.
• Monitor public discussions, competitor actions, industry news, and cultural trends.
• Respond swiftly to unexpected media opportunities and coordinate internal contributors.
• Utilize AI and research tools to track media, identify contacts and patterns, develop angles, and enhance outreach efforts.
• Assess campaign outcomes, document successful methodologies, and refine future campaigns based on media responses and business impact.
• Success is gauged by the quality and relevance of earned media, campaign discussions, relationships, audience engagement, and supported business opportunities, rather than the volume of press releases.
• Ability to complete a practical assessment showcasing your thought process, storytelling skills, and capability to transform ordinary business topics into engaging conversations.
• Previous experience in PR, journalism, communications, creative agencies, content creation, startups, or growth marketing is preferred.
• Proven ability to attract attention, secure coverage, build an audience, or generate public interest around an idea.
• Strong news judgment.
• Ability to discover compelling angles in technical, commercial, or commonplace information.
• Excellent skills in writing headlines, pitches, and short-form content.
• Proficient in written and spoken English.
• Capability to grasp technical and business concepts and articulate them clearly.
• Proactive mindset towards direct outreach.
• Persistence in following up on ignored or rejected pitches.
• Ability to navigate incomplete information and dynamic projects.
• Skilled in managing multiple stories, stakeholders, and deadlines.
• Confidence in communicating with founders, executives, technical experts, clients, journalists, and creators.
• Capacity to work independently, make informed decisions, and take responsibility for campaign results.
• Curiosity about media, business, technology, eCommerce, culture, and information dissemination.
• Practical knowledge of social media, online communities, podcasts, newsletters, creator channels, and other media formats.
• Pre-existing relationships with journalists, editors, creators, or industry media are beneficial.
• Experience in eCommerce or technology is a plus but not essential.
