PowerBI Developer – Contractor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Minnesota.

📋 Description

• Design and maintain Power BI dashboards for a diverse range of business users.

• Create custom UI visualizations, ad hoc reports, and automated exports to Excel.

• Write and extract SQL queries as needed.

• Validate data quality across various datasets.

• Conduct root cause analysis on data issues and anomalies related to loans.

• Develop strategies for data refresh using Azure SQL Server and other systems.

• Configure Power BI within the Power Platform environment.

• Establish controls for security, accessibility, and access management.

• Address accessibility issues in existing reports.

• Ensure that reports align with performance standards and client requirements.

• Collect and document business requirements and rules.

• Lead technical meetings and prepare technical manuals.

• Provide Power BI training, mentoring, and collaborative development sessions.

• Submit daily project status updates to the client.

• Complete comprehensive knowledge transfer before the engagement concludes.

• Transition legacy Tableau and Crystal Reports into Power BI.

• Collaborate with both business and technical teams and train State staff.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of advanced experience in Power BI development.

• Strong background in validating student loan data, including forbearance data.

• Proven experience in writing technical documentation.

• Excellent communication abilities, particularly with senior leadership.

• Adaptable presentation skills for both informal and formal settings.

• Practical SQL experience with a preference for Azure SQL Server.

• Preferred experience in configuring the Power Platform.

• Previous experience in migrating Tableau or Crystal Reports is a plus.

• Accessibility remediation experience is preferred.

• Familiarity with report security and access management is advantageous.

• Experience with Excel export automation is preferred.

• Background in training or mentoring non-technical users is a plus.
