Postdoctoral Research Position, Risk Management, Insurance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kansas, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Perform applied research in the areas of risk management, insurance, and insurance regulation.

• Collaborate closely with CIPR researchers and other NAIC staff on ongoing initiatives.

• Engage in related independent research projects during allocated research time.

• Effectively communicate research findings in both written and spoken formats.

• Publish research in peer-reviewed academic journals.

• Present findings at academic conferences.

• Build partnerships with external scholars.

• Participate in interdisciplinary discussions concerning risk, insurance, and public policy.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Ph.D. from an accredited institution in economics, finance, risk management and insurance, or a related discipline, obtained within the last two years.

• Candidates expecting to complete their Ph.D. by fall 2026 are also eligible.

• Strong expertise and interest in the quantitative analysis of topics related to risk management, insurance, and insurance regulation.

• Proficient in data analysis and econometric/statistical modeling techniques.

• Ability to present research results clearly and concisely in both written and oral formats.

• Preferred skills in advanced data science tools, including SQL, R, Python, SAS, Tableau, artificial intelligence, machine learning, VBA, and GIS.

• Submission of a cover letter outlining interest and suitability for the position.

• Current CV.

• One or two representative publications or working papers.

• At least one letter of recommendation.
