This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.
• Create statistical and machine learning methodologies along with the necessary software to analyze, model, and integrate various information sources.
• Analyze disruptive incidents and their effects on infrastructure, including power grids.
• Assess and convey research findings through comprehensive reports and presentations.
• Engage in group discussions and seminars.
• Support the engineering and development of statistical and deep learning software.
• Perform statistical and probabilistic data evaluations.
• Design algorithms and contribute to scholarly publications.
• Prepare and disseminate technical documentation, conference papers, and journal articles.
• Attend and showcase research findings at technical conferences.
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary research teams across industry, academia, and other national laboratories.
• Recent PhD graduate within the past three years.
• Ph.D. in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or Data Science.
• Educational qualifications must be fulfilled prior to the employment start date.
• Proven experience in developing statistical methods, encompassing theoretical foundations, modeling, and computational aspects.
• Proven experience in creating methods for dimension reduction and uncertainty quantification.
• Proven experience using deep learning frameworks like PyTorch.
• Proven experience managing scientific datasets, including computer model simulations and observational data.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in a scientific context.
• Proven experience in working with interdisciplinary teams.
• Proven programming experience in Python and R.
• Familiarity with version control software.
• Proven experience in collaborative project work.
• Self-driven and capable of independent thought.
• Must be able to secure and keep a federal Personal Identity Verification (PIV) card.
• Must successfully complete a background investigation.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screening.
• Must be authorized to access the NLR facility under DOE regulations.
• Must obtain work authorization and DOE access approval.
