Portuguese VRI/OPI Interpreter

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Respond to calls in a professional manner, adhering to the Interpreter’s code of conduct.

• Be prepared to take notes during calls.

• Familiarize yourself with the specific vocabulary relevant to the industry you are working in, particularly in healthcare and medical fields.

• Accurately and completely convey all messages, without adding, omitting, or altering any information.

• Deliver the highest standard of customer service during the interpreting process.

• Facilitate effective communication between Limited English Proficient (LEP) clients and the client organization by providing precise and comprehensive interpretations.

• Uphold established standards of practice.

• Participate in internal professional training sessions.

• Be open to obtaining new professional certifications.

• Communicate and report to your team leader regularly.

• Adhere to dress code policies for video remote interpreting (VRI).

⛳️ Requirements

• Native-level proficiency in Portuguese (either Brazilian or European) and fluent in English.

• At least 1 year of experience in over-the-phone interpretation (OPI) with a reputable interpreting organization.

• Strong understanding of medical terminology.

• Familiarity with legal terminology is considered advantageous.

• Possession of international healthcare certifications is a plus (e.g., PICSI, ALTA, HIPAA).

• High school diploma (secondary education) is required.

• High emotional intelligence and cultural sensitivity are essential.

• Excellent communication, active listening, note-taking, and memory retention skills.
