This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Implement an Inuit-specific gender-focused perspective throughout all phases of the policy cycle
• Gain insights through evidence collection and community involvement
• Craft position statements and assist leadership in pivotal discussions
• Identify, assess, and offer recommendations regarding policy and legislative matters and opportunities
• Create briefing documents, position papers, and various policy-related materials
• Employ evidence-based strategies that integrate Inuit traditional knowledge to track issues surrounding violence, abuse prevention, and justice
• Provide recommendations through consultations both internally and externally with Inuit organizations
• Generate documentation to support submissions to governments, partners, and communities
• Identify and seek out funding sources to promote policy priorities
• Organize, lead, and document workshops, community gatherings, and working groups
• Assist in regular reporting to both internal and external stakeholders
• Represent the organization on external committees and working groups
• A college or university degree in a relevant field and/or a combination of education and experience
• Experience collaborating with federal, provincial, territorial, northern, or local governments and/or other funding bodies
• Familiarity with the policy development cycle
• Expertise and/or knowledge in applying a gender-based lens for policy analysis and recommendations
• Experience in developing, implementing, or evaluating grant and/or contribution agreements
• Proven experience in executing and managing community-based engagements
• Knowledge of Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit principles and the ability to apply them in policy or program development advocacy
• Awareness of current policy issues related to violence, abuse prevention, and justice within Inuit communities
• Proficiency in English
• Working knowledge of Inuktitut (both oral and written) and French is preferred
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and web-based applications
• Valid driver's license
• Willingness to travel across Canada
• Strong business acumen along with outstanding analytical and decision-making abilities
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Capacity to thrive in dynamic, rapidly evolving, and fast-paced environments
