Policy Analyst, Gender Equality, Social Inclusion

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Indonesia.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with IISD teams to conceptualize, create, and execute projects through a GESI perspective.

• Engage in and assist qualitative and quantitative research on the social, economic, and distributional aspects of just energy transition, carbon pricing, transport electrification, and related energy policy matters.

• Gather, evaluate, and consolidate data through literature reviews, policy assessments, interviews, focus groups, and both quantitative and qualitative datasets.

• Provide GESI-responsive insights for policy evaluations, stakeholder analyses, political economy evaluations, modeling efforts, and other technical undertakings.

• Create, draft, and enhance reports, policy briefs, technical notes, presentations, and various knowledge products.

• Coordinate with partners and consultants on research planning, follow-up, documentation, and reporting activities.

• Prepare, organize, coordinate, facilitate, and document capacity development and stakeholder engagement initiatives.

• Design GESI-responsive training modules, educational materials, presentations, exercises, and other learning resources.

• Facilitate and co-facilitate trainings, workshops, webinars, learning sessions, and other capacity-building activities.

• Assist in stakeholder consultations and engagement with government, civil society, private sector, community groups, and other collaborators.

• Work alongside the communications team on blogs, newsletters, presentations, webinars, and internal updates.

• Represent IISD projects and programs at pertinent forums, conferences, and public events.

• Help identify challenges, emerging issues, solutions, and new project opportunities.

• Manage personal time, workflow, and project contributions to ensure timely and budget-compliant outputs.

• Aid in fundraising efforts through proposals, concept notes, business development materials, and donor reporting.

⛳️ Requirements

• A master’s degree in gender studies, social sciences, public policy, environment, development studies, or a relevant interdisciplinary field; candidates without a master’s degree may apply with equivalent experience.

• Authorization to work in Indonesia without sponsorship from IISD.

• A minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience in Indonesia, the Philippines, and/or Viet Nam, related to GESI mainstreaming, energy, climate, sustainable development, policy research, capacity development, or comparable fields.

• Proven experience in contributing to or independently executing research, analysis, capacity development, training, or learning initiatives.

• Experience collaborating with teams to implement research or program activities.

• Experience in building relationships with government, civil society, or community organizations.

• Strong analytical and writing abilities.

• Proficient understanding of qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis.

• Familiarity with sustainable development, policy theory, and current climate and energy policy topics; eagerness and capacity to learn in these domains.

• Applied knowledge of GESI, gender-based analysis, and GESI mainstreaming; eagerness to deepen this understanding.

• Strong skills in developing presentations, accessible learning materials, and other content suitable for diverse audiences.

• Basic-to-intermediate facilitation and presentation skills, with an interest in adult learning and participatory methods.

• Fluency in Bahasa Indonesia and English (mandatory).

• Computer proficiency, including skills in Microsoft Office/Teams and web-based communication and collaboration tools.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, organize tasks, manage competing priorities, and deliver quality outputs punctually.
