Policy Analyst

📋 Description

• Translate policy into system functionalities, workflows, and user experiences while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

• Identify regulatory limitations, risks, ambiguities, edge cases, eligibility criteria, and business regulations.

• Suggest solutions that balance compliance, user experience, and delivery requirements.

• Develop policy briefs, decision frameworks, process flows, and other supportive decision-making materials.

• Assist in testing and validating policy implementation, including scenario and edge-case evaluations.

• Conduct research on landscape and comparative policies.

• Keep track of evolving policies and translate them into implications for implementation, technology, and engagement.

• Summarize research into clear written and verbal communications for both internal and external audiences.

• Identify partnership opportunities and maintain relationships with external stakeholders.

• Contribute to the development and execution of advocacy strategies.

• Aid Nava Labs in understanding and shaping the evolving AI policy landscape related to public benefits.

• Formulate a clear, credible perspective and engage externally on developing policies and guidance.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in policy analysis, or a combination of relevant graduate-level education and experience.

• Practical experience in analyzing, interpreting, or enforcing policies and programs in public benefit initiatives or similarly regulated fields.

• Strong capability to establish and nurture relationships with both internal teams and external partners.

• Self-motivated and comfortable working independently with minimal oversight.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, encompassing technical and policy contexts.

• Understanding of public programs, preferably across various levels of government.

• Ability to document research processes, findings, and recommendations in a clear, concise, and organized manner.

• Experience in contributing to public comments, policy proposals, or legislative and regulatory procedures.

• Capability to convert research and policy insights into recommendations for technical solutions and advocacy or external engagement opportunities.

• Adaptive, empathetic, collaborative, and maintain a positive outlook.

• Resourceful, dependable, and detail-oriented.

• Comfortable navigating ambiguous, rapidly changing environments with multiple concurrent threads.

• Legal authorization to work in the United States.

• Ability to meet requirements for relevant government contracts.

• Work authorization that does not necessitate visa sponsorship, now or in the future.

• May be subject to a government background check or security clearance.

• Desired: experience with agile delivery and human-centered design methodologies.

• Desired: experience in government technology modernization, civic tech, or large-scale systems transformation.
