Platform Engineering Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in France.

📋 Description

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of three experienced platform engineers.

• Foster team growth through consistent feedback, career discussions, and technical guidance.

• Establish and elevate technical standards through review processes and collaborative coding.

• Take ownership of the team's hiring process and influence its future development.

• Create a supportive, self-sufficient, and high-trust engineering culture.

• Manage the platform roadmap and articulate the technical vision.

• Balance aspects of reliability, security, cost, and delivery speed.

• Implement automated infrastructure modifications while ensuring high availability and excellent engineering practices.

• Develop self-service functionalities that simplify infrastructure and security complexities.

• Empower on-premise customers to utilize Fabriq effectively.

• Adjust organizational and platform capabilities in response to technological advancements.

• Collaborate with engineering, product, and security stakeholders.

• Align priorities and support change management initiatives.

• Document technical decisions and maintain customer-facing relationships through effective communication.

• Review technical contributions, collaborate when necessary, and make architectural choices.

• Oversee reliability, security, performance, and costs in both cloud and on-premise settings.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in managing or leading engineers, particularly senior profiles, with a history of nurturing talent through mentoring and technical support.

• Capability to enhance technical standards, supported by substantial production experience.

• Excellent communication skills for writing documentation, aligning stakeholders, and facilitating change management.

• Extensive production experience with AWS, utilizing container technologies and infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform / Pulumi).

• Strong production experience with Kubernetes in on-premise or private cloud environments, including management of storage controllers, advanced networking, and control plane operations.

• Deep networking knowledge across all OSI layers, including TLS, DNS, DHCP, and routing.

• Strong foundation in Linux systems, encompassing containers and troubleshooting techniques.

• Proficiency in programming and code architecture.

• Familiarity with Test-Driven Development practices and a robust understanding of Domain-Driven Design.

• Production experience in release management, utilizing CI systems like GitHub Actions or Jenkins, and CD systems such as ArgoCD or Spinnaker.

• Hands-on experience in monitoring, alerting, observability, performance troubleshooting, and reliability engineering.

• Experience in database management, including migrations, implementing breaking schema changes without downtime, and backup and restoration procedures.

• Basic understanding of ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type 2 security compliance frameworks.

• Experience collaborating with AI agents.
