This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Become a part of the Navy Delivery team, where platform engineering, application development, DevOps, and application security converge.
• Assist application teams in integrating, packaging, securing, deploying, and managing software within the Unicorn Delivery Service (UDS) and Kubernetes-based environments.
• Engage with application source code, APIs, containers, CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes resources, and production runtime issues.
• Convert the needs of application teams into consistent deployment artifacts and processes.
• Detect issues across both application and platform layers.
• Provide support for CI/CD components, runner deployments and maintenance, UDS packaging, Kubernetes and Helm configurations, observability, security controls, and process automation.
• Assess methods for addressing complex technical challenges and propose innovative solutions.
• Tackle problems that span multiple areas of expertise and contribute to strategic planning efforts.
• Implement infrastructure as code and either build or maintain Kubernetes clusters across various distributions like EKS and RKE2.
• Utilize cloud-native deployment experience, secure coding practices, and vulnerability remediation techniques.
• Forge relationships with external teams and collaborate effectively with platform teams.
• Required travel of 4–12 times per year.
• Proven experience in developing, deploying, supporting, or managing production applications or platform environments.
• Practical experience with cloud-native technologies, containers, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, or Kubernetes-based systems.
• Proficient in Linux/Unix with the ability to troubleshoot across both application and platform layers.
• Familiarity with application architectures, source code, APIs, containers, runtime dependencies, or deployment specifications.
• Experience with YAML-based configurations such as Kubernetes manifests, Helm configurations, CRDs, or CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of security practices applicable to applications, APIs, containers, cloud infrastructure, or vulnerability remediation.
• Strong problem-solving capabilities and the capacity to work independently while adapting to new technologies and ambiguous technical challenges.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with application teams, platform teams, and external stakeholders.
• Must be eligible to apply for and maintain a U.S. government security clearance.
• Capability to obtain a DoD 8570 IAT II certification.
• Preferred: Extensive expertise in full-stack application development, Kubernetes, GitOps, CI/CD, Tofu, AWS, Go, or similar technologies.
• Preferred: Experience in production environments with Kubernetes, including EKS, RKE2, or equivalent distributions.
• Preferred: Background in designing, implementing, integrating, or troubleshooting APIs and backend services.
• Preferred: Experience with C#/.NET, Python/FastAPI, React, Vue, or NGINX-hosted applications.
• Preferred: Experience with Helm, GitOps, observability, distributed architectures, security automation, or everything-as-code practices.
• Preferred: Proven track record of mentoring and developing fellow engineers.
• Preferred: Active U.S. government security clearance and/or current DoD 8570 IAT II certification.
• Preferred: Background with the Department of Defense, particularly in supporting a production ATO system.
• Preferred: Familiarity with UDS Core, Iron Bank, and/or C-ATO processes.
