Senior Staff Platform Engineer – Core

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Lead the technical design and implementation of essential platform capabilities across cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes platforms, observability, CI/CD systems, and developer tools.

• Oversee the comprehensive execution of intricate, multi-quarter features and systems from architecture and design to deployment and ongoing refinement.

• Collaborate with engineering teams to enhance the reliability, scalability, and performance of cloud-native services.

• Assist in incident response and resolution while enhancing availability and system stability.

• Promote best practices in software delivery, infrastructure management, and operational excellence.

• Provide mentorship to engineers and contribute positively to engineering culture.

• Monitor emerging technologies and industry trends, introducing innovative solutions to the team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be based in the United States.

• Demonstrated experience in leading and delivering complex cross-team, multi-quarter initiatives.

• Skilled at breaking down intricate work into milestones and delivering consistently using agile methodologies.

• Strong software engineering foundation, encompassing backend development and distributed systems.

• In-depth knowledge of AWS and cloud-native architectures.

• Expertise in Infrastructure as Code, including Terraform and CloudFormation.

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and tools that enhance developer productivity.

• Extensive experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration in a production environment.

• Strong understanding of observability, including logging, metrics, and tracing.

• Background in incident management and operational best practices for large-scale systems.

• Proficiency in Go or Python programming languages.

• Ability to collaborate across teams, clearly communicate complex topics, and influence engineering best practices.

• Outcome-oriented mindset.

• Positive and adaptable attitude.

• Preferred: experience in scaling services globally; knowledge in FinOps or cloud cost management; familiarity with regulated or high-availability environments; skills in Java or Kotlin; experience with GitHub Actions; and knowledge of Kafka and Cassandra.
