Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Argentina.

📋 Description

• Provide technical leadership within the platform team, guiding and influencing decisions without the reliance on formal authority.

• Assess and question architectural choices with well-founded reasoning, identifying potential missteps early and suggesting corrections.

• Utilize strong, current expertise in modern backend technologies (Python, APIs, microservices, CI/CD) and/or the contemporary data stack (dbt, Redshift, orchestration, Data Mesh) to resolve specific issues and facilitate technical decisions.

• Integrate AI tools extensively into the daily engineering processes (PoCs, code reviews, documentation).

• Collaborate with current technical leads, jointly developing solutions and finding common ground while maintaining technical disagreements without damaging relationships.

• Communicate decisions through ADRs/RFCs, establishing and enhancing the engineering standards of the team.

• Assist in modernization initiatives, balancing new architectural designs with legacy/on-premise constraints.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience as a Tech Lead or Staff Engineer, leading through influence, consensus, and by example.

• Strong architectural judgment, with experience in challenging and validating technical decisions.

• Solid, up-to-date knowledge of modern backend engineering (Python, APIs, microservices, CI/CD) and/or the modern data stack (dbt, Redshift, orchestration, Data Mesh) — sufficient expertise in at least one to assist the team with concrete issues.

• Regular use of AI tools in daily engineering tasks (PoCs, reviews, documentation).

• Strong political and interpersonal skills — capable of co-creating with existing technical stakeholders and managing disagreements constructively.

• Experience in documenting and conveying decisions through ADRs/RFCs and technical standards.

• Experience encompassing both backend development and the full modern data stack (expertise in one is adequate, knowledge of both is an advantage).

• Familiarity with Internal Developer Platforms and golden paths (Backstage, NullPlatform, or similar).

• Experience with AI/LLM platforms.

• Strong DevOps knowledge, preferably with AWS.

• Experience leading modernization projects in environments that integrate legacy/on-prem systems.

• Previous experience in the banking or financial sector.
