Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Wisconsin.

📋 Description

• Design, construct, and sustain the infrastructure and services that drive Kohl's applications.

• Develop scalable, dependable, and secure platforms that cater to Kohl's business requirements.

• Create, test, deploy, and continuously enhance platform capabilities, features, and APIs.

• Collaborate with designers, product managers, end users, and platform engineers.

• Leverage experimentation, data insights, user feedback, and industry best practices to achieve business objectives.

• Develop and integrate secure, usable, operable, resilient, and observable platform services.

• Manage the technical aspects of the platform services lifecycle, including code, infrastructure, data, security, CI/CD, support, and documentation.

• Enhance the platform user experience for development teams.

• Contribute to platform engineering and software standards.

• Foster personal development and support the growth of others.

• Streamline development processes, enhance system performance, and ensure high availability.

• Build and oversee complex systems utilizing cloud technologies, automation tools, and infrastructure-as-code methodologies.

• Optimize CI/CD pipelines and improve monitoring and logging frameworks.

• Contribute to Kohl's platform architecture and technical strategy.

• Perform other assigned duties as needed.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience in object-oriented development using Java, Go, or Python.

• Familiarity with Kubernetes, including distributions like Red Hat OpenShift, Amazon EKS, Google GKE, or Tanzu TKG.

• Regular use of Git for source code management and versioning.

• Background in software development with a solid understanding of cloud computing principles.

• Proven ability to quickly learn new technologies or techniques.

• Open-minded problem-solving strategies focused on customer needs.

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in MIS, Computer Science, or a related field (preferred).

• Over 2 years of experience in software or infrastructure platform development (preferred).

• Knowledge of application design patterns, event-driven architecture, and testing strategies.

• Familiarity with major cloud platforms such as GCP, AWS, or Azure.

• Experience with continuous integration, continuous deployment, and test-driven development.

• Knowledge and experience with platform as code and GitOps methodologies.

• For the Platform Engineer (EUC) addendum: experience with device management tools like Workspace ONE, Intune, or Jamf Pro.

• For the Platform Engineer (EUC) addendum: experience managing Windows, macOS, Android, or iOS at scale.

• For the Platform Engineer (EUC) addendum: general knowledge of device security, networking, patch management, and application deployment.
