This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.
• Report directly to the Director of Fire Management.
• Lead efforts in departmental planning, influence organizational policy, and drive strategies across functions.
• Act as a working lead on various ongoing projects.
• Provide expertise in the subject matter, manage relationships, and coordinate hands-on efforts.
• Implement and/or develop a designated Program area.
• Identify and pursue strategic funding avenues.
• Oversee intricate budget and contract management, including invoicing and programmatic reporting.
• Align Program objectives with departmental strategy in partnership with the Department Director.
• Mentor employees in Fire Management, focusing on team unity, leadership growth, and collaborative efforts.
• Represent the Program in external forums, meetings, and strategic discussions.
• Build, maintain, and enhance relationships with key partners.
• Provide subject matter expertise and project management for intricate projects.
• Develop new program areas and expand existing ones to advance TEA's mission.
• Identify emerging needs, design innovative and scalable strategies, and ensure measurable and sustainable outcomes.
• Secure funding through project proposals and large-scale or multi-year grant applications.
• Support Fire Duty Officer processes for departmental staff as necessary.
• Manage the development of MOA/MOU with partner organizations.
• Travel as required based on departmental needs.
• Participate in prescribed fire implementation, suppression, or training, up to current qualification levels as needed.
• Bachelor's degree or proven written and verbal communication skills as assessed by the hiring team.
• A minimum of 4 years managing multiple ongoing or high-complexity projects.
• Currently or previously qualified as a Single Resource of either ENGB, CRWB, or RXB2.
• Proven success in securing and managing large-scale or multi-year funding, such as grants.
• At least 2 years of experience collaborating with other organizations on projects.
• Successful track record in generating new business leads through networking, relationship-building, and utilizing existing client connections.
• Experience in grant writing for complex projects.
• Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to develop and manage intricate budgets.
• Proficiency in contract review and management.
• Competence in using Microsoft Suite products, including Excel and Word.
• Subject matter expertise relevant to the position.
• A strong passion for the organization's mission and dedication to social impact.
• Desired: Currently or previously certified as TFLD or DIVS.
• Desired: Master's or PhD in a wildland fire-related discipline, or 15+ years of a combination of education and experience.
• Desired: Five or more years of experience in department management and executive leadership within a nonprofit, state, or federal wildland fire agency.
• Desired: A proven track record of successfully designing, implementing, and evaluating programs.
• Desired: Experience in event organization and fundraising.
• Desired: Familiarity with relevant regulations and compliance requirements for federal contracts.
